Dana White unleashes another “hate the media” video

April 21, 2024 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Despite the fact that UFC 300 was a huge success inside the Octagon and outside, Dana White focused on the negative media comments and had the company produce another video demonizing the hated media.

I do not know half the “mma experts” that are in the video and some of the social media posts blasting UFC 300 are from alias accounts. So, Dana White was looking for the proverbial “straw man” to hate on the media once again. The main critique was that the card did not have a huge name at the top of it. Alex Pereira defending the UFC Light Heavyweight title against Jamahal Hill was at the top of the card, the women’s strawweight title was up for grabs and the BMF title rounded out the trio of feature fights. But none of the featured fighters are known as big talkers or come with a huge following. The UFC put together a great card with a huge amount of the ranked roster, but no one named Jon Jones, Conor McGregor or Israel Adesanya. So, a lot of the “influencers” took to the extreme to create a conversation. It is a two-way street because despite the fact White points them out in the video, it creates something for their own resume.

Notably, the UFC sent out a press release identifying the attendance, gate and ratings it received from the prelims.

Similar to the video White created during COVID-19, he has rabbit ears when it comes to criticism despite the ad nauseum amount of people that went out of the way to laud the company and White himself, the head of the UFC wanted to highlight his opponents. Even if the media universally liked UFC, he would find the one dissenting viewpoint to highlight instead of the many staff that worked tirelessly for the company to make it a success. And, also the fighters because without them, the UFC doesn’t have an event.
