Masvidal to fight Diaz June 1

March 13, 2024 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Nate Diaz will face Jorge Masvidal in a boxing match on Saturday, June 1 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles according to a press release. The event is dubbed, “Last Man Standing.”

The event will be on Fanmio PPV which is offering a special on the event. Fans purchasing the event before April 12, 2024 will get it for $49.99. It has a price point of $79.99 thereafter. No information on the tickets as of yet.

The two met in November 20198 to determine the winner of the manufactured BMF title. Masvidal won that matchup. Since then, both have retired from the UFC as their contracts were allowed to expire. Post-UFC, Nate has been involved in a boxing match with Jake Paul which he lost. Masvidal has been promoting Gamebred Boxing while actively flirting with the opportunity to return to combat sports.

No other fights have been announced for the card, although one would suspect that both Diaz’s camp and Masvidal’s promotion will have some members on the undercard. Fanmio will be the distributor of the PPV.

Notably, Paul who defeated Diaz in August 2023 in Dallas is now facing off against Mike Tyson on Netflix in July.

Payout Perspective:

Masvidal, 39, and Diaz, 38, are the latest former MMA fighters to turn to boxing to make (what we anticipate more) money than they did than when there were in the UFC. It is curious that the press release announcing the fight has a pre-buy deadline almost two months before the event. One might infer that the pre-buys might assist in financially funding it. But, we have no solid evidence of this. Regardless, we will see how much people will clamor for this event.

Contrary to Trump’s statements, senior Israeli and U.S. officials said that the United States had prior knowledge of the Israeli strike and even approved it in an attempt to pressure Iran. After the Iranians retaliated against Qatar’s gas fields, Trump is now changing course
