Kayla Harrison signs with UFC, debut at UFC 300

January 23, 2024 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Dana White announced on social media that the UFC has signed Kayla Harrison. Her debut takes place at UFC 300 against Holly Holm.

The former two-time Olympian will fight Holm at bantamweight. Harrison is the two-time season winner of the Professional Fighters’ League Women’s Lightweight Championship.

The signing is a shocker as there had not been any rumors of her signing with the UFC. Her signing will boost a women’s bantamweight division that saw Raquel Pennington win the vacant title at UFC 297. Harrison’s debut may mean a fast-track to the championship as well as the potential we see Amanda Nunes come out of retirement to challenge Harrison in what one might as a women’s superfight.

For the PFL, this is a blow for the company as Harrison was one of the few women fighters in the company that could appear on PPV and draw fans. At this point in her career, the move was the best for Harrison as she gets to debut at the biggest event in the company’s history (thus far) and in a division that seems prime for her taking.
