Conor McGregor announces fight in June

December 31, 2023 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

The long-awaited return of Conor McGregor will happen in June 2024 as part of International Fight Week. McGregor announced via social media that he will be facing Michael Chandler on June 28th in Las Vegas.

McGregor announced the fight would be contested at 185 pounds but I think that might be a bit of an embellishment. The two had been opposing coaches as part of The Ultimate Fighter this past year. The two will finally fight after a long wait as McGregor had not been in the USADA testing pool most of 2023. In fact, McGregor’s return to drug testing was discussed when the UFC announced its departure from USADA.

McGregor has not fought since July 2021 when he broke his leg in a loss to Dustin Poirier. It will have been 4 and half years since McGregor last won when he stopped Donald Cerrone in January 2020.

Hopefully for McGregor and the UFC, he returns to form after losses to Dustin Poirier and a broken leg have impacted his return.
