PBC heads to Amazon Prime Video

December 7, 2023 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Premier Boxing Champions announced a multi year rights deal with Amazon Prime Video on Thursday. The deal comes after Showtime Sports announced it would cease operations at the end of the year.

According to the social media post, “Prime Video will become the home of PBC’s PPV events, championship bouts, behind-the-scenes docuseries and more.”

Amazon Prime is already home to the NFL’s Thursday Night Football game and is looking to bulk up its live content. Obviously, based on last week’s NFL game which drew a record 15.26 million viewers to the platform, there’s an audience. Prime Video has about 157 million subscribers. PBC needed a new home for its content and the streaming platform, while not a linear deal, should be lucrative for the company. According to SBJ’s Adam Stern, PBC still have its PPV events aired on regular TV through cable/satellite distributors.
