AEW-NXT prep for Tuesday Night Ratings War

October 10, 2023 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

October 10th will be the first time in a while that AEW and WWE will run head-to-head against one another. Both programs are loading up on talent and special appearances to get fans to tune into their program. They also have each will start the first 30 minutes commercial free.

WWE’s NXT saw an increase in its viewership over the past several weeks due to the influx of main roster talent making appearances on Tuesday night and at NXT’s branded events. Becky Lynch and Dominick Mysterio have won NXT titles and we’ve seen the Judgment Day regularly the past several weeks on NXT.

WWE has promised John Cena, Cody Rhodes and Asuka as special guests for Tuesday’s show. Rhodes will start the show with a special announcement.

AEW is moving to Tuesday night due to the MLB Playoffs. Previously, it had won the Wednesday night wars with NXT forcing it to Tuesdays. To counter the special appearances, it will include a “Buy-In” show starting at 30 minutes before the 8pm ET start on YouTube, Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) which will feature Eddie Kingston taking on Minoru Sizuki. It will also include an overrun of its Dynamite telecast. The show will feature two title defenses, the in-ring debut of Adam Copeland (f/k/a Edge) and an appearance by MJF.

Payout Perspective:

It’s clear that the competition is ensuring that fans win here. While both companies will put on the best shows they can outdo the other, fans will win by seeing the best each has to offer. One might expect NXT to win on Tuesday since AEW is moving to Tuesday on a temporary basis.
