UFC 288 took place on Saturday at The Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The Fight of the Night went to Mosvar Evloev and Diego Lopes in a surprisingly good effort from Lopes.
Lopes, a late fill-in for Bryce Mitchell, showed heart and received praise from Dana White as he pushed Evloev to his limits. In the end, the Featherweight contender won a unanimous decision but we’ll probably see more of Lopes in the UFC in the future.
The Performance bonuses went to Matt Frevola who stopped Drew Dober in the first round of their Prelim Feature Bout. Also, Yan Xiaonan defeated Jessica Andrade via KO in the first round.
The event drew 17,559 for a gate of $5,182,210.
The main event saw Aljamain Sterling successfully defend his Bantamweight title against Henry Cejudo.
