ShoBox (03.05) draws 197K viewers

March 7, 2023 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Showtime Boxing on Saturday night drew 197,000 viewers for the main event in which Brandon Figueroa defeated Mark Magsayo in the feature fight which determined the WBC interim featherweight title.

Figueroa earned the unanimous decision although there was some controversy in the fight. Magsayo had two points deducted from him, but the Filipino’s promoter called out the judges for such a wide gap on the score cards.  Figueroa won 117-109, 117-109 and 118-108.

The telecast also drew 160,000 viewers for the undercard of Jose Armando Resendiz KO victory over Jarrett Hurd.

A decent showing for Showtime Boxing which featured featherweight’s in the main event.  The fight was highly anticipated from the locals and hardcore boxing fans.  On a night with the return of Jon Jones, the telecast on the premium channel drew acceptable numbers.
