McGregor-Chandler TUF 31 coaches, set to fight at end of season

February 4, 2023 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Dana White announced on Saturday morning that Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler will be coaches on the upcoming season on The Ultimate Fighter.  The two will fight after the end of the season which is set to conclude in August.

TUF 31 is set to debut in May and will air through August with the two coaches fighting at the end of the season.  McGregor and Chandler will likely headline a card in the fall of 2023.

No other details were given by White on Saturday as to the weight class of competitors and whether they would be men or women.

McGregor announced on social media about the TUF coaching role several days ago.  Tony Ferguson also stated that he was asked to be a TUF coach opposite McGregor.  Obviously, that fell through or was a swerve as Chandler was chosen for the spot.

Payout Perspective:

McGregor was a TUF coach opposite Uriah Faber in 2015 but the two never fought.  This will mark the return of McGregor to the UFC after his last fight against Dustin Poirier in which he broke his leg.  Chandler has been one of the top lightweights in the division and the matchup should be a huge seller if the two remain healthy until the fight occurs.
