Aldo named to 2023 UFC Hall of Fame class

January 22, 2023 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

During the UFC 283 PPV, the UFC named Jose Aldo to be a part of the 2023 Hall of Fame Class.  Aldo was in attendance and was moved by the announcement.

Aldo will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame’s ‘Modern Wing.’  Jose made his U.S. debut on June 1, 2008 in the WEC where he became the featherweight champion after defeating Mike Brown in November 2009.

He debuted with the UFC after the merger in April 2011.  He defeated Mark Hominick at UFC 129.  He went on to win the UFC Featherweight Champion.

Aldo’s last fight was August 2022 when he lost a decision to Merab Dvallshvili.  Prior to that, he had won three fights in a row.

The 36-year-old will have his boxing debut on UFC Fight Pass in February.

A vote is not expected during Friday’s DI Cabinet call regarding the NCAA’s proposed 5-year, age-based eligibility rule. Discussion on the topic is expected to continue with action now anticipated at their next meeting the week of June 22.

Overwhelming support remains.
