September 27, 2022 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Top Rank Boxing on ESPN Friday night drew its highest rating of the year for Shakur Stevenson’s latest fight.  It was second overall in cable ratings Saturday with 1.076M viewers and 0.32 in the A18-49 demo per Nielsen via ShowBuzz Daily.  The ratings also drew 0.22 in the A18-34 demographic second only to College Football on ESPN.

Top Rank Boxing featured Stevenson as he defeated Robson Connceicao.  Only a sidenote, Stevenson did not make weight for this fight and thus dropped the WBC and WBO super featherweight titles.  Not really a setback, Stevenson announced post-fight of his intention to move up to lightweight.

According to BoxingScene.com, the telecast peaked at 1.15 million viewers this past Friday night.

The ratings reflect the star status of the former Olympian also drew 1.166 million viewers for his last fight on ESPN versus Oscar Valdez this past January.  Thus far, those are the only two Top Rank Boxing telecasts on ESPN this year that have drawn over 1 million viewers.  It is also the third straight fight Stevenson has drawn over 1 million viewers.  He drew 1.233 million viewers in October of last year against Jamel Herring.
