June 22, 2022 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Top Rank Boxing on ESPN Saturday night drew 753,000 viewers and was the highest-rated cable show on television Saturday night.

The telecast drew 0.22 in the A18-49 demo, 0.15 in F18-49, 0.29 M18-49, 0.15 in A18-34, 0.10 F12-34, 0.15 M12-34, 0.30 A25-54, 0.37 in over 50.

The telecast featured Artur Beterviev as he faced Joe Smith, Jr. in a matchup of lightweights.  Smith proved to be no match for the Russian as Beterbiev stopped Smith in round 2.  The main event drew 912,000 viewers per BoxingScene.com via Nielsen. The telecast was just a two-fight show was the third-highest rated Top Rank show this year.

Payout Perspective:

The ratings are improving for Top Rank as the promoter is putting a lot more ‘fights of interest’ on ESPN and casual fans are tuning in.  The UFC served as a lead-in and the fact there was no real other major sports on at the time on Father’s Day weekend made it optimal for Top Rank to earn the top spot in viewership.
