Taylor-Serrano nearing historical MSG sellout

April 4, 2022 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

The Sports Business Journal reports that Madison Square Garden has sold around 14,000 tickets to the April 30th fight between Amanda Serrano and Katie Taylor.  It is on track to be a sellout according to an SBJ source.

If the two women sell out the 20,000 seat around, it would be the first time that a women’s fight headlining a card would have sold out the venue.  Promoted as the biggest fight in women’s history, it is being promoted by Jake Paul and Matchroom Sport.  The event will air on DAZN.

Payout Perspective:

Although it is not yet a done deal, the fact that this event has drawn so much publicity is good news for the sport of boxing and women’s boxing more importantly.  Perhaps with Paul’s brashness leading the charge in promoting Serrano, the event took up steam. However, both fighters are deserving of the spotlight.  Women’s boxing often takes a backseat to the men and/or women’s MMA, but this fight appears to be one that will be a major draw that could mean a lot for the two competitors as well as the sport.
