UFC 272 Prelims draw 1.526M viewers

March 8, 2022 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

The UFC 272 PPV Prelims drew 1.526M viewers on ESPN Saturday night.  It also drew 845,000 viewers in the A18-49 demo.  The prelims were aided by an overrun from the UNC-Duke game which drew nearly 3.98 million viewers.

The prelims did not start on ESPN until 9:10pm, an hour and ten minutes later than the original start date.

The event drew 0.65 in the A18-49 demo, 0.29 in F18-49, 1.01 in M18-49, 0.69 A18-34, 0.20 F12-34, 0.92 M12-34, 0.53 in A25-54, 0.48 in over 50.

Recent PPV Prelims Ratings on ESPN

UFC 272:  1.526M *started late

UFC 271:  901,000

UFC 270:  421,000 *started late

UFC 269:  729,000

Payout Perspective:

Strong ratings for Saturday night’s PPV which may be in part due to the promotion of the bad blood between Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal.  The PPV prelims are the highest-rated this year.  While the last game at Duke for Coach K may have attributed to the strong viewership in the overrun, the numbers reflect that many stayed on to watch UFC.
