Injured Spence, withdraws from Pac fight, replaced by Ugas

August 10, 2021 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Bad news for Erol Spence, Jr. as he was forced to withdraw from his August 21st fight against Manny Pacquiao due to injury. Yordenis Ugas will replace Spence.

According to reports, Spence discovered he had a torn retina in his left eye on Monday. Per his social media, Spence indicated he saw three doctors about his injury and all said the same thing. He plans on facing the winner.

Ugas was set to fight on the undercard of the Spence-Pacquiao fight but now gets elevated to the main event.

Payout Perspective:

Unfortunate injury for Spence who was set to elevate his boxing status with his fight against a true legend. Not only does he lose out on this big payday, but the injury sets him back for a showdown with Pacquiao. Notably, Spence’s promoter, Tom Brown, intervened in Pacquiao’s lawsuit against him by Paradigm Sports and Audie Attar in order to oppose a preliminary injunction lodged against Spence’s opponent for alleged breach of contract. The Orange County Superior Court denied the preliminary injunction on Friday. The loss of Spence is a blow to the PPV as well as the fans that were set to attend. Obviously, there is a still a fight in Vegas but the shine and money expended to promote Spence-Pacquiao is out the door.

🚨🚨🚨Trump on Truth Social: Israel, out of anger for what has taken place in the Middle East, has violently lashed out at a major facility known as South Pars Gas Field in Iran. A relatively small section of the whole has been hit. The United States knew nothing about this

Contrary to Trump’s statements, senior Israeli and U.S. officials said that the United States had prior knowledge of the Israeli strike and even approved it in an attempt to pressure Iran. After the Iranians retaliated against Qatar’s gas fields, Trump is now changing course
