UFC on ESPN 28 and Bellator 263 ratings

August 3, 2021 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

UFC on ESPN 28 drew 797,000 viewers on ESPN and peaked at 1 million viewers during the main event per Nielsen via Kevin Iole. Also on Saturday night, Bellator 263 drew 85,000 viewers peaking at 177,000 viewers during the Pitbull-McKee fight.

The UFC main event featured Sean Strickland taking on Uriah Hall with the Southern California native earning the victory.

The Bellator main event was the final of the 145-pound grand prix in which McKee defeated Patricio “Pitbull”  Freire.

The UFC event at The Apex in Las Vegas finished prior to the bulk of the Bellator main card on Showtime.

Both events did not include any streaming numbers from ESPN+ or the Showtime App.

Payout Perspective:

Bellator’s biggest card did not receive a ton of support on linear television. The one hope for the company is that a lot of subscribers watched via streaming.  Still, just 85,000 as reported by Iole doesn’t seem to pleasing.  While 177,000 was nice for the main event, you’d expect more considering the fact it was the grand prix final and you might argue that they are the two best featherweights in the world.
