UFC 263 took place Saturday night at the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona. Brandon Moreno led the bonus winners for the night in front of a boisterous crowd in Arizona.
The $50,000 bonuses went to Paul Craig who appeared to break Jamahal Hill’s arm with an armbar. Fortunately for Hill it was reported that it was not a break despite the horrible scene of watching his arm lifelessly flap about.
The Fight of the Night went to Brad Riddell and Drew Dober as the lightweights went toe-to-toe in their three rounds. Dober wan a unanimous decision with all cards having it 29-28.
Notably, not receiving a Performance Bonus was Terrance McKinnie who had the 4th-fastest KO in UFC history as he dispatched Matt Frevola in the first round. However, he injured his knee during the celebration.
The event drew 17,208 for a total gate of $4.2 million per the UFC in its post-fight press conference.
Payout Perspective:
The crowd was raucous and seemed to boo anytime someone attempted a takedown and wrestle. But the fans were entertained with the flyweight title changing hands as Brandon Moreno became the first Mexican-born champion in the UFC. Also, Nate Diaz proved that it does not matter if he wins or loses, people want to see him.
