UFC 262 bonuses bumped to $75K

May 14, 2021 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Maybe Tony Ferguson has ‘Dana White’ Privilege.  According to a report from Combate.com, the bonuses for Saturday night’s UFC 162 will be $75,000 instead of the usual $50,000.

During the press conference, Ferguson goaded Dana White into raising up the bonuses for Performance and Fight of the Night to $75,000. It appears that White has conceded.

Earlier in the week, White indicated that the UFC broke a Toyota Center record with its gate of $4 million.  The event in Houston will be the second done in front of a live audience in an arena without restrictions due to COVID-19.

Ferguson will face Beneil Dariush in the semi-main event of the evening.  In the main event Charles Oliviera will take on Michael Chandler for the vacant UFC lightweight title.

At the press conference held Thursday, Ferguson made reference to Chandler receiving preferential treatment since signing with the UFC last fall as ‘Dana White Privilege.’  After serving as the backup fight for Khabib-Justin Gaethje, Chandler stopped Daniel Hooker in the first round and then received this title shot.

Payout Perspective:

We shall see if the $75K bonus will stick around after Saturday.  One can see it being a PPV night special, but I do not see the company raising bonuses for every UFC event.
