McGregor sells majority stake of Proper 12 Whiskey

April 27, 2021 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Conor McGregor has sold his majority share of Proper 12 Whiskey in a deal worth up to $600 million per the Shanken News Daily.  McGregor, his agent Audie Attar and partner Ken Austin sold their stake in the spirit brand to Proximo Spirits, a company that owns Jose Cuervo.

According to the outgoing founders, the $600 million sum includes the $250 million McGregor, et al. earned in the brand’s first two years in business.

Although he sold his majority stake, the three founders will retain an interest in the brand and maintain active roles.

McGregor shared the news in an Instagram post:

Payout Perspective:

Not a bad return after three years in existence for the business. Certainly wide distribution, marketing and the association with the UFC star has helped with the brand making it an appealing target to acquire. While many famous people have taken a foray into the spirits world, McGregor seems to have cashed out at the right time.
