UFC Fight Night 185 bonuses

February 21, 2021 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

UFC Fight Night 185 took place Saturday night at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.  Derrick Lewis once again amazed all with another comeback KO to defeat Curtis Blaydes and earn a $50K bonus.

Lewis was handled by Blaydes most of the two rounds although he did a great job of defending a takedown.  However, a fateful shoot by Blaydes met a solid uppercut from Lewis and that ended the night.  Lewis has now won his last 4 fights.

Chris Daukaus earned a TKO stoppage over Aleksei Oleinik with a barrage of shots that stopped the bout in the first round.  It was the third straight first-round finish for Daukaus.

Tom Aspinall looks to be a promising contender in the heavyweight division as he outclassed a game Andre Arlovski.  Aspinall hurt Arlovski early and dominated the bout.  He eventually took out Arlovski with a rear naked choke sub in the second round.

Finally, Aiemann Zahabi, who has a striking resemblance to ESPN MMA commentator Ariel Helwani, earned a $50K bonus for his KO of Drako Rodriguez.  It was Zahabi’s first win in four years.

Payout Perspective:

It was a night for the heavyweights with the impressive win for Lewis over Blaydes.  One has to feel bad for Blaydes who dominated the fight.  But, Lewis’ punching power makes him one of the more dangerous fighters in the division.  Also, we saw an ascending star in the making with Aspinall and Daukaus posting impressive victories.
