Gillian Robertson had to pull out of her fight Saturday night against Miranda Maverick due to a “non-COVID related issue.” Robertson took to social media to announce that she was sick this morning and her team made the decision to pull her out of her fight.
The women’s flyweight matchup was scheduled for the Early Prelims of UFC 258.
This is the second matchup that has been scratched this week with Bobby Green collapsing at the UFC weigh-ins. His fight with Jim Miller was scrapped as Green indicated that he had kidney issues.
Payout Perspective:
Certainly, these health issues are not good especially in the sport of MMA. Although Robertson’s illness is not known, fighters cutting weight have experienced health issues which are dangerous for the individual in the long run. Weight cutting should be an issue that the sport addresses in the near future.
