Judge in UFC Antitrust Lawsuit orders another status conference

November 2, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

A minute order issued on Saturday indicates that there will be another hearing in the UFC Antitrust lawsuit.  November 19th Judge Richard Boulware will conduct a status conference which will be via video conference as a result of the worldwide pandemic.

A previous status conference was held in September which had no real takeaways except for the inference that Judge Boulware was leaning toward granting class certification for the member class but did not speak about the identity rights class.

The lawsuit was filed in December 2014 and it has been a long and winding road with no real end in sight.

The last substantive issues that took place was in August-September 2019 when there were evidentiary hearings to determine class certification.  In September, the court took the testimony of Joe Silva as he could not travel to the August hearings.

It is anticipated that this status conference should clarify the future of the litigation going forward.

Will there an opinion issued on the class certification prior to the status conference?  Hard to know, but it would appear that we will have movement on this case soon.
