The Errol Spence-Danny Garcia fight scheduled for November has been moved back to December 5th to accommodate fans at AT&T Stadium in Texas. The Fox PPV will take advantage of the state allowing fans back to watch combat sports.
At the beginning of October, the state issued a memo which would allow promoters to apply to have fights within the state with fans at 50% the capacity of the venue. The promoters would have to comply with COVID-19 protocol and provide the commission with its operational plan on how it would protect the health and safety of the athletes, corners and staff.
🥊 FIGHT UPDATE: Unified 147-lb champ @ErrolSpenceJr will battle 2-division champ @DannySwift on Sat. 12/5/20, live on @PBConFOX PPV from @ATTStadium WITH FANS IN ATTENDANCE!

This is the second event that has moved to Texas as Showtime’s PPV of Leo Santa Cruz and Gervonta Davis was moved from October 24th to October 31st. This was due in part to avoid the big UFC PPV which will be hard during the day.
The only issue with the December 5th date is that it now goes up against the return of rising superstar Ryan Garcia as he fights Luke Campbell in LA.
Payout Perspective:
One has to know that securing the arena was in the works for some time with the anticipation that this event could happen in front of fans. With the revenue lost from events not attended by fans, moving these events in front of fans make sense. Although PPVs, Showtime and Fox would like to have fans in the stands to create an organic feel rather than a studio show or filtered in noise. Moving the dates likely deals with logistics and the dates that they had the arena.Â
