Israel Adesanya and Jan Blachowicz drew Performance of the Night bonuses as each left the evening with gold. Adesanya defended his welterweight crown while Blachowicz won the light heavyweight strap.
The Polish fighter won the vacant light heavyweight title with he stopped Dominick Reyes in the second round of their 5 round fight. He is the first person to hold the title beside Jon Jones or Daniel Cormier since 2011.
Israel Adesanya defeated Paulo Costa after he knocked him down with a flurry of punches in the second round and then ended his night on the ground. It was the seventh post-fight bonus for Adesanya out of 9 UFC fights.
The Fight of the Night went to Brandon Royval and Kai Kara-France. The flyweights put on a show but Royval won with a guillotine choke in the second round of their fights.
Payout Perspective:
The second round was a luck round for all $50K recipients tonight. Both title holders earned stoppages while the FOTN could have handed out another stoppage with Royval’s submission over Kara-France.
