Bellator MMA announces Paris debut October 10th

September 11, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

On Friday, Bellator MMA announced that it would hold the first MMA show in France on Saturday, October 10th featuring Cheick Kongo and Timothy Johnson.

Also, on the card, Michael Page takes on Ross Houston.  The event will have 25% capacity as it will be the first time since the return from the pandemic that the promotion will have fans.

This past January, France lifted a ban on MMA.  Bellator will be the first major promotion to hold an event in the country.

In addition, Bellator announced that it will hold events in London on October 1st as well as October 15th from Uncasville, Connecticut as part of its start on the CBS Sports Network.

Payout Perspective:

Originally from France, headlining Kongo on the first card in the country made sense.  Also, MVP as the co-main should add some entertainment to the card.  The move by Bellator for more international events makes sense and the logistics in conducting these cards during COVID-19 has made it harder.  Certainly, the commission and regulatory bodies will have to be figured out but Bellator making inroads in areas where the UFC is not is a plus for Bellator.
