The Payout Pick: UFC 250

June 6, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

UFC 250 takes place tonight at The Apex in Las Vegas with Amanda Nunes taking on Felicia Spencer in the main event.  Nunes (-625 according to UFC sponsor DraftKings) is a huge favorite tonight against Spencer (+450).

It’s clear that the oddsmakers are not giving the Canadian a chance.  The 29-year-old is 8-1 with her only loss coming last July against Cris Cyborg via unanimous decision.  She did defeat Zarah Fairn Dos Santos this past February via TKO in the first round to earn this shot.  She also has a win over Megan Anderson via RNC in the first round which shows that she has power and can use her jiu jitsu.

But, she is going against a seasoned veteran in Nunes. The 19-4 double champ (Bantamweight and Featherweight) has not lost since 2014.  She has dominated all comers.

The only glimmer of hope for Spencer is that she seemed to tire in the later rounds against Germaine de Randamie.  Still, Nunes was never in real danger of losing in her unanimous decision victory this past December.

So, if you are a bettor, you’d probably stick with a round in which Nunes will end Spencer’s night or decide that this fight will go the full 5 rounds.

I would suggest this fight last into round 3 with a stoppage by Nunes.  Spencer will be motivated to stay in this fight and while Nunes may have issues with her at first, she will be in full control by round 2.
