UFC announces three events in May

April 25, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

The UFC officially announced three events taking place in May with the first one happening on UFC 249.  The first event after the break due to COVID-19 will be taking place at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.

UFC 249 will feature Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaethje for an interim lightweight title.  Also, Henry Cejudo will take on Dominick Cruz for Cejudo’s bantamweight title.

In an Instagram Live interview of Dana White by ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, White stated that there would be events on May 13 and May 15th.  He also indicated that White’s Fight Island may be in place by June.

Payout Perspective:

The official announcement of UFC 249 was known.  What was not known was two other events happening shortly after the first.  This seems to go in line with the need to produce the requisite number of events before the end of 2020 in compliance with its ESPN contract.  What should be a concern is the safety guidelines that will be put in place and how that may translate into the other events.  Basically, if something goes wrong with UFC 249, will they have enough time to address issues for the 13th and 15th.

Dana White is such a MAGA stooge. He runs around every podcast talking about how he’s “not political” and how Donald Trump is “just his friend,” all while asking that same friend to help him write off more gambling losses and throwing him a UFC fight in front of the White House

New: UFC President Dana White has sent a letter to President Donald Trump asking him to help reverse the 90 percent limit on gambling loss deductions for US taxpayers that became law last year.

The issue has been a concern for both bettors and the gambling industry itself.
