Rogan says he won’t call UFC249

March 27, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Even though UFC 249 is full steam ahead for April 18th, Joe Rogan stated that he will not be a part of it.

Rogan, synonymous with the biggest fights in company history, stated on one of his recent podcasts that he will not be a part of the event.  “I guess someone’s going to commentate it – it’s not gonna be me.”

On his podcast, Rogan has had experts on the subject of the coronavirus.  Rogan notes the logistical issues with the event going forward on April 18th.  Mainly, will there be testing? What happens if there is not testing but a fighter is asymptomatic of the virus and passes it on?  What happens if Tony or Khabib test positive?

Payout Perspective:

As with the pull out of Roman Reigns from WrestleMania, Rogan’s decision not to call UFC 249 makes sense.  There are no safeguards that can prevent the spread of this deadly virus except to keep at a distance and not have sporting events until medical experts say it is fine.  While there may be some pushback from diehard UFC fans, Rogan is making the correct decision for his health and for the health of others.
