UFC Fight Night Brazil draws lowest rating ever on ESPN

March 18, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

UFC Fight Night from Brazil drew 672,000 viewers per Nielsen via ShowBuzz Daily.  The UFC’s 6-hour block on Saturday afternoon was the only live sports content on the network, yet the poorest showings on the network.

The event drew 288,000 viewers in the A18-49 demo. The replay on ESPN2 later that night drew 105,000 viewers.

The event was to be an ESPN+ only event but was changed after the promotion was the last one standing as every other major sport decided it was in its best interests to postpone events.  Still, the UFC persisted with this event in a closed arena.

The UFC was the main source of entertainment on ESPN on Saturday as the 6-hour block was bookended with this past January’s UFC 246 which featured the return of Conor McGregor.  The replay which preceded the live show did 426,000 viewers.

Payout Perspective:

With the issues with Coronavirus, its clear no one had the appetite for live MMA.  Moreover, this fight card was not the best as it was and a six hour block of less-than-stellar fights probably soured the viewers.

Wait, is this for real? Trump spent $60 million of our taxpayer funds to host a UFC fight and then is selling UFC coin to line his family’s pockets. The Trump corruption swamp is a mile deep.
