Dapper Labs to offer UFC collectibles via blockchain

February 27, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

The Vancouver, B.C.-based Dapper Labs, an start-up company in the blockchain space has forged a licensing deal with the UFC to produce collectibles for the promotion.

According to a press release from the company, its consumer platform, Flow, will host the UFC’s digital collectibles.

Via the Dapper Labs press release:

UFC is one of the first global brands in professional sports to be announced on Dapper Labs’ Flow. Developed by Dapper Labs as a solution to the problem of blockchain scalability for consumer applications like games and digital collectibles, Flow will help enable and empower tech savvy UFC fans to purchase, trade and own verified, authentic, limited-edition digital collectibles on blockchain in real-time.

The company is banking on the early adapters and young demo that is the UFC fan base to take advantage of the new digital experience in collectibles.  According to Dapper Labs, the UFC is one of the first companies to sign on with the Flow platform.

Payout Perspective:

Digital collectibles using blockchain technology is a growing trend and the UFC is always an early adapter when it comes to technology.  We will have to see what the price point on these items will be to consider the success.  This could lead to further partnerships between the two companies.
