Organizational changes at ViacomCBS have Bellator reporting to Espinoza

January 15, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

Variety reports a restructuring involving the ViacomCBS-owned Bellator MMA.  The promotion will now report to Showtime Sports president Stephen Espinoza.

Among other moves made within the organization, ViacomCBS continues to fine-tune the management and operational structure after the merger between Viacom and CBS Corp.  Scott Coker will continue as president of Bellator MMA.

Via Variety:

“Bellator MMA has long been an island within Viacom.  The move to Showtime Sports is designed to help integrate Bellator more fully with Viacom CBS operations.”

Payout Perspective:

Still too soon to know if this move will include more input from Espinoza or if we will see any change from the Bellator product.  But, this move may seem to include Bellator into the ViacomCBS family which might help the promotion in terms of exposure and ratings as its seen its televised events dramatically decrease year to year.
