AEW: Dynamite extended through 2023

January 15, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

WarnerMedia announced on Wednesday that it has extended AEW: Dynamite through 2023.  The new promotion, All Elite Wrestling, began airing on TNT this past October.  The new deal includes the launch of another night of wrestling on the network.

According to the press release announcing the extension, AEW episodes average 1.2M total viewers and 654,000 in the A18-49 demo in Live+7 day viewing.  It also highlighted broadcast deals in the UK, Canada, France and Germany as well as availability in other countries through its AEWPlus.com subscription service.

Payout Perspective:

Good news for wrestling fans especially those of All Elite Wrestling.  It has done well in competition with NXT and WarnerMedia seems to like the fact that it has secured a dedicated and loyal youthful demo.  Despite its nod to independent wrestling, it has infused some of the older generation and is making it work.  With this news, one might expect a proportional response from WWE as it usually rises to the education with competition.
