PFL’s New Year’s Eve Finale draws 361,000 viewers on ESPN2

January 2, 2020 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

The PFL Championships on New Years Eve on ESPN2 Tuesday drew 361,000 viewers.  The event featured the conclusion of the promotion’s second season with its tournament format for a $1 million prize.

Notably, it outdrew the NBA game between Denver and Houston on NBA TV at the same time.  The PFL Championship aired from New York city and featured the finals of each division in the promotion.  The feature bout was Kayla Harrison winning once again the $1M prize for the lightweight women’s championship.

The good news for the PFL is that they drew much better than last year’s NY show of 204,000 viewers on NBC Sports Network.

Payout Perspective:

The good news is that the 361,000 viewers bests any viewership it has had on ESPN’s family of networks and NBC Sports Network in at least two years.  It is still minuscule compared to the UFC, but did as well as Bellator’s New Year’s Eve Show from Japan.  2020 will be a big year for the PFL as it must make moves to improve its viewership.
