FITE.TV becomes UFC’s new online streaming partner

September 1, 2017 by Jason Cruz Leave a Comment

MMA Junkie reports that the UFC has a new partner for PPV events.  FITE.TV has secured a deal with the UFC and will begin streaming for the company with next week’s UFC 215 through its app and website.

The financial details were not disclosed.  The company, with a U.S. base in Uniondale, New York has streamed over 450 live combat sports events including MMA, pro wrestling, boxing, striking and grappling events.

The event is being offered by FITE.TV at a flat rate of $59.99 for HD or SD.

The announcement comes less than a week after the UFC’s online partner, NeuLion suffered technical difficulties of its PPV broadcast of Mayweather-McGregor on its UFC.tv and UFC Fight Pass platforms.  The UFC offered an apology which directed the issue at NeuLion while offering refunds.

NeuLion did not comment regarding the UFC’s new relationship with FITE.TV and its not known whether the UFC is severing ties.

Payout Perspective:

While the working relationship with NeuLion may not be over altogether you have to wonder about the timing of this announcement.  Less than a week after technical issues during its biggest PPV of the year caused a PR issue forcing the company to issue refunds and deal with the potential for lawsuits, it would not be surprising that the UFC is looking elsewhere for a new online platform.
