Television By Numbers reports that UFC on Fox 24 drew 1.74 million viewers on Saturday night. The event is the lowest rated UFC on Fox ever although it does not include the overrun.
UFC on Fox 24 featured Demetrious Johnson defending his UFC Flyweight title against Wilson Reis. Johnson defeated Reis via armbar submission. Also, Rose Namajunas submitted Michelle Waterson in the co-main event of the main broadcast which aired from 5-7pm PT.
UFC on Fox drew a 0.6 rating and a 2 share in the adult 18-49 demo.
According to Nielsen, the Easter tradition of ABC showing The Ten Commandments drew over 5 million viewers. A prime time showing of the NHL Playoffs drew 2.29 million viewers on NBC.
Notably, The Ten Commandments drew a 3 share in the adult 18-49 demo, the best in the 8-10pm time slot.

Payout Perspective:
It’s the lowest rated UFC on Fox ever although you might see a bump since the Demetrious Johnson-Wilson Reis did not start until about 5 minutes left in the time slot window. Still, you would have expected better ratings for Namjunas-Waterson. Unfortunately, some will see this as an indictment on the lack of drawing power for Johnson who has to be considered one of the best pound-for-pound fighters ever.
Last April’s UFC on Fox 19 drew over 2.1 million viewers. In 2015, April’s UFC on Fox 15 drew 2.43 million viewers.

Yeah, they are going to get more than double what they are now. That’s more than ever boxing tv deal combined in the US. Hahaha.
Of note almost all of the southern and Midwestern USA had Kentucky related Derby material on Fox so UFC programing was moved at the last minute.

When that new tv deal is struck, the UFC is going to be grossing around 800m per year. Doesn’t seem like it will take too long to pay back.

I know Mighty Mouse isnt a big draw, and that is partially the fault of White and the UFC and partially the reality of the fan base. Shame, I watched the card, and Johnson is one of the best mma fighters I have ever seen….he seems flawless. He is clearly one of the smartest fighters in the sport as he knows how to adjust to styles like Mayweather did in boxing.
All that being said, this is just not good, period. There is no way to spin this one in terms of the ratings.
Conor McGregor looks more and more important to the UFC with each card that passes….the UFC has no crossover stars competing right now.

Wil, Your entire analysis is somewhat irrelevant when it comes to Johnson. Read the article. Only 5 minutes of the Johnson fight was covered within the time slot. The event is going to increase significantly because of this.
Combat sports rarely have crossover stars. When they do it is extremely rare. McGregor, Rousey, Tyson, Mayweather, Lesnar are certainly not the norm for this world. The UFC can do ppvs that go over 1m buys with non crossover stars. It’s been proven time and time again. It also doesn’t take too long to replace these stars in mma. I’ve been hearing this for years. What’s going to happen when Liddell, Ortiz, Couture, etc retire? Then GSP and Silva came around. What’s going to happen when GSP/Silva/Lesnar retire? No more stars left right? Go back to the archives on this site, you’ll see all the normal boxing t.rolls repeating that nonsense. Then the two biggest stars of all time in the UFC: Rousey and McGregor pop up. When they are gone, another pair or more will arrive. MMA is only gaining in popularity.
I love Bellator, but they are so far away from competing with the UFC. Their production, fighter quality, and ppv distribution is Bush League compared to the UFC. They’ve done 1 ppv in their history with a loaded card and only did 100k buys.

Also, you don’t need to be an insider to be aware of these numbers. Moody’s has disclosed the UFC’s numbers publicly.
Final numbers weren’t quite the lowest. AT 1.996 million viewers, it barely beat out last August’s show.
