TMZ reports UFC sale “isn’t even close”

June 22, 2016 by Jason Cruz 3 Comments

TMZ Sports reports that the imminent sale of the UFC is not close to happening.  The news comes after lawyers on behalf of the company sent a letter to Jeremy Botter dismissing his report that the UFC was in the midst of being sold for $4.2 billion.

The news from TMZ is peculiar considering the unnamed author citing an unnamed source in the report stating that there are negotiations to sell the company but that “a deal isn’t even close.”  Also, TMZ states that there is no agreement as to whether 100% of the UFC will be sold or a sale price.

Payout Perspective:

It’s clear that there is a component of public relations going on with this report.  This report occurs right after Jeremy Botter, who first reported the potential sale, was sent a letter by UFC attorneys which may or may not have intimated legal action for his report.  We shall see if TMZ Sports gets the first official report on the sale.  That is, if the sale happens.
