Bonuses for UFC 198 were announced post-fight at the UFC press conference. The new Heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic, headed the list of winners.
Miocic stopped Fabricio Werdum with one punch in the first round to earn the title.
In addition, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza earned a performance of the night for his stoppage of Vitor Belfort. Souza cut Belfort early on and was able to control the former UFC champion until a flurry of punches from the mount spelled the end as the referee stepped in to stop the fight.
The Fight of the Night went to Francisco Trinaldo and Yancy Medeiros which aired on FS1. All fighters earned $50,000 each.
Payout Perspective:
Obviously, Cyborg, Little Nog and Damian Maia could have earned bonuses for their stoppages during the fights. Miocic one-punch victory was surprising but then again not surprising.

Great night of fights. Miocic is a killer. He could be one of the greats.
The Greatest says
What a joke the UFC is.
Werdum with no drawing power, got beat by a guy with even less drawing power.
d says
Hahahaha.
Boxing hw ppv’s purchased in the US/Canada for the past decade….0.
Werdum-Miocic will do at least 250k buys.
Also, drawing power isn’t measured by skill, genius.
Fight Fan says
250k buys lol talk about high goals
d says
That would be 250k more than the last decade in boxing combined. Hahahaha.
Fight Fan says
Funny d, fury klitchko did 500k buys. lol does the ufc even sell ppvs in U.K.?

Fight Fan says
As usual d you provide no sources on any of your claims and ramble on about pbc
d says
Hahaha. You are delusional.
In no, way, shape or form did Klitschko do 500k buys in the US where there is a premium cost for the buys unlike the UK which is a fraction of the cost. Not to mention that article was based off of the promoter’s word, which is nothing and they said 400k-500k @$20 per buy. Hahaha. That’s D. Johnson buys.
” As usual d you provide no sources on any of your claims and ramble on about pbc”
I didn’t realize it was required to leave a source for something that is common knowledge. There have been no hw boxing ppvs in the US for the past decade. I also made no statement about PBC here. You are a nut.
fight fan says
d you obviously didn’t read the article, it was a ppv in the uk. Just like we get their main events on our networks they get ours on sky and boxnation.
fight fan says
which is more than the Under Financial Crisis organization can do
Wil says
the heavyweight division in UFC is woefully pathetic. Those two looked like they were fighting in a tough man contest. that has always been the worst division and it doesnt look like it will change any time soon. The problem with that division is that Brazilians generally dont get that big, and most American athletes at that size are playing football or basketball. Now Coutoure, that was greatness. These jokers these days looked embarassing.
All in all, now the best card I have seen, and Cyborg is going to end up killing someone with this sweating down to 139 and then gaining 20+ lbs business
d says
“d you obviously didn’t read the article, it was a ppv in the uk. Just like we get their main events on our networks they get ours on sky and boxnation.”
No, you didn’t read what I said. Go back and try to comprehend. I know what skytv is, they charge a third of what a US ppv charges and they also fabricate ppv numbers just like promoters do here.
” which is more than the Under Financial Crisis organization can do”
The fight from last night will generate more revenue in ppv money than the Klitschko-Fury fight did for Skytv and the UFC event was a low profile ppv headliner.
You are silly.

Hahahahaha. Boxing hw division looks really impressive with their steroid cancellations.
d says
“Those two looked like they were fighting in a tough man contest. ”
Wil, you aren’t very well informed. What gave you the indication that Miocic looked like a tough man fighter? Werdum used poor technique and was reaching when he was ko’d, but that can’t be thrown at Miocic. This guy could turn out to be the best hw ever. He’s that good. His wrestling is at the highest level, his striking is very good. The only thing he may not to improve on is his transitioning, but that always eventually comes around.
I do agree as a whole the hw division is bad, but the top 4-5 fighters are very good. Werdum’s strength was never in the hands department. His clinch/bjj were always his strength. I do agree what he did was novice in nature, but that wasn’t typical Werdum. I think he was surprised that Miocic could deter his clinch as well as he did.
“The problem with that division is that Brazilians generally dont get that big”
What?? Where are you getting this from? Nogueira/Werdum/Rizzo, etc.
“most American athletes at that size are playing football or basketball”
Right, because there is no such thing as the heavyweight division in amateur wrestling or anything. Football players also look a lot different than basketball players do physically.
Alarming also that you praise Cyborg while jeering anyone who uses peds. She is juiced every time she fights.
Combo says
And the posts from the insecure boxing fans continue.
Twas a decent night of fights and a record-setting stadium event in Brazil.
Fight Fan says
What record did they set? Lol cause I know boxing still holds the highest gates and ppv records.
d says
Certainly not in Brazil.
d says
Also, boxing does not hold the highest annual ppv records.
The Greatest says

If they put out 13 ppvs they would.
It took 9 UFC ppvs to equal 1 boxing ppv last year.
Did you guys know that the MLB gets more people to attend their games in a full season than the NFL?
Hmmm wonder why that is…maybe its because the MLB has 162 games while the NFL only has 16.
No one would claim that the MLB is more popular than the NFL because of that.
So comparing 13 UFC ppvs to 4 boxing ppvs makes you look like a horses a.s.s.
Cuz when boxing decided to hold 8 ppvs in 2014, they sold more than the UFC did with 13, just to prove to d that, yes boxing is bigger than your little sport.
Good day.
d says

“Did you guys know that the MLB gets more people to attend their games in a full season than the NFL?

No they wouldn’t. When boxing puts out additional ppvs they involve fighters who can’t draw because guys like Mayweather and Pacqauio would only fight 2x per year. Those additional draws usually do less than D. Johnson numbers. When boxing attempted to increase their ppv events, their numbers actually went down after doing 7 in one year.
This year the UFC will at least triple what boxing puts out ppv wise.
So, not being able to do basic math, and ignoring basic logic, proves you to be the delusional nut you’ve always been accused of on here.
“Cuz when boxing decided to hold 8 ppvs in 2014, they sold more than the UFC did with 13, just to prove to d that, yes boxing is bigger than your little sport.”
Boxing did less ppv buys that year than they did the year before and the year after when they only did 2, yes 2 ppvs. Hahaha. Nice try.
Boxing is pretty much obsolete at this point in ppv. They can’t even break 500k anymore. They’ve failed on the networks. Their rights fees on HBO have gone down and HBO has cut back on boxing events. They have no major stars anymore. The sport is a mess. Hahahahaha.
The Greatest says
“No they wouldn’t. When boxing puts out additional ppvs they involve fighters who can’t draw because guys like Mayweather and Pacqauio would only fight 2x per year.”
–No its because boxing fans know our sports established and were not shelling out money to watch GGG punch some can in the head (even though Lemeuix isnt a can but he isnt ppv quality).
By the way Mighty Mouse doesnt sell any ppvs. The UFC does. People buy the UFC because of the brand.
How many ppvs would Werdum get if he faced Overeem on an Affliction ppv? 20k? If that.
People buy the UFC, because its the UFC.
We don’t buy boxing ppvs because its boxing. We buy the ones we want to see, you sheep.
d says
“–No its because boxing fans know our sports established and were not shelling out money to watch GGG punch some can in the head (even though Lemeuix isnt a can but he isnt ppv quality).”
HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! You just admitted what I said was true and your delusion was false. HAHAHAHAHA!!! Can you even follow your own nonsense?
“By the way Mighty Mouse doesnt sell any ppvs. The UFC does. People buy the UFC because of the brand.”
Demetrious Johnson headlines the cards that do those numbers. Pretty desperate angle. If what you said was true, then guys like McGregor would do Demetrious Johnson numbers every fight and the UFC’s buyrate wouldn’t change from fight to fight.
“How many ppvs would Werdum get if he faced Overeem on an Affliction ppv? 20k? If that.”
How many ppv buys does D. Johnson get? How many do McGregor and Rousey get? If the UFC was the only factor, why are the numbers so drastically different?
“People buy the UFC, because its the UFC.”
No they don’t. You aren’t bright.
d says
Boxing ppv this year will probably do around 1.5m ppv buys, unless Canelo fights GGG (which is doubtful) and even then, they will still be under 2m buys. What is this going to do to you psychologically when the UFC hits 6,7, or 8m ppv buys and does at least triple what boxing is doing? Along with having the top 5 or 6 ppvs this year.
Hahahahahahaha.
The Greatest says
The ufc doing 6M with 13 ppvs isn’t great at all, and they probably wont even do that with all these 200k ppvs they keep doing.
Boxings on basically multiple times a week almost.
The UFC has like two events a month. How arent they selling more ppvs if they are as big as you claim?
d says

This is the equivalent to you telling me the sky isn’t blue, 2+2 doesn’t equal 4, the Pope isn’t Catholic, etc. You are beyond delusion. What is the matter with you?
