TMZ Sports reports that Jon Jones was taken into custody by police in Albuquerque, New Mexico for a violation of his probation. Jones was cited for drag racing last week and a judge had issued a warrant for his arrest as a result.
TMZ reports that Jones turned himself in to the Abuquerque police department on Tuesday morning. The terms of Jones’ probation last month required
EAG Sports, the management company representing Jones issued a statement per TMZ:
“Jon and his team are taking this very seriously and we will let the legal process play out.”
“We are confident he will be released once he has an opportunity to explain to the judge the facts in this case.”
Payout Perspective:
There are reasons why professional teams, and even in college, there is a “security detail” for some players. It’s the ability to protect your investment and ensure that the player does not get into trouble. Perhaps the UFC attempted to help Jones and he denied their request. But, it’s clear that Jones was out late and got into trouble. Whether or not it was his fault, whether or not he will be vindicated in court does not matter. The legal ramifications might impact next month’s showdown with Daniel Cormier. Then again, it may not (see Adrien Broner, although his case has a different set of circumstances). What it does do is bring into question Jones’ decision making and those that help him and manage his career. With Jones on probation and an imminent return to the UFC, there needed to be someone to ensure that Jones did not run afoul of the law. Not only is Jones’ career in question, but a big business PPV next month. We will see how this plays out.

Pfff, another 200k ppv.
And just like that the UFC is drowning.
3 tops stars all down the drain.

Hahahaha…negotiation with ufc buyer/ investor got another discount and leverage
Anti Trolls says
i feel sorry for both of you

the kid has some problems, hopefully someones praying for the young man.
fight fan says
wow, crazy that people get to this level but can never mature enough to straighten themselves out. If jones had admitted that he was in the wrong and been more respectful the cop may not have packed his citation form and probably would have only written him up for one thing. When someone gives attitude they get it stuck to them and now he’s paying the piper. Not good for someone who was already on probation.

You get more delusional as you go along.

Wonder if Panda Express will become a sponsor when ufc gets bought out by the Chinese investors
tops E says
That would be funny if it happens for ufcfanboys worshipping dw….they joined the movement from when zuffa bought the ufc going to beat soccer, believing all dw visions and hype ” all in this together” then zuffa and dw cashes out and sells the company hahaha
turd says
the ufc as a promotion is trouncing every boxing promotion and promoter out there,
and i hate the ufc management but they are doing very well for themselves.
tops E says
Will the flag of china or abudabi be included in the ufc logo? Hahahaha…does change in ownership cancel the lawsuit? or will investors pay the plantiffs if they win? Hahaha

“Wonder if Panda Express will become a sponsor when ufc gets bought out by the Chinese investors”
I wonder if PBC’s jumbotron will turn into a UFC big screen when they attempt to recoup a few bucks for their horribly failed business? Hahaha. That would be the ultimate form of irony.
Fight Fan says
Boxing survives with or without pbc and goes back to cable where it belongs with no cuts between rounds
d says
Boxing is “surviving” only at this point. Everything they have going right now is down: ppv, cable/premium tv ratings, gate, etc.
The Greatest says
There is a deep pain in Ds comments today.
You see the inevitable.
UFC is dying
d says
There is a delusional and desperate undertone in everyone of the weakest’s comments. He sees how boxing has totally lost its market share and mma is dominating the combat sports landscape.
Fight Fan says
Lost their market share? Lol 4.4 and they hold the highest ppvs ever, talk to me when ufc cracks 2 mil
Ron says
So glad I wait till the day of the PPV before I pull the purchase trigger.
tops E says
Ufcfanboys cant discuss new cfo, flash entertainment, ipo stations, china media because it is beyond theyre pay grade as ufc paid trolls hahahaha
tops E says
Will they play the.chinese or,abudabi national anthem before a ufc event? Hahaha
d says
Hahahaha. You have no concept of what the market share is, not to mention will cling to that one fight for an eternity.
Talk to me when boxing ever does as many ppvs or the amount of revenue the UFC does.
Let me know when they come anywhere close from here on out, because it isn’t happening.

Yeah, mma isn’t big abroad. Haha.
The Greatest says
Boxing has every record in the book. It was over before it ever started.
The UFC will never have a ppv that does 4.6M.
Theyll never have 90M viewers for a single fight.
Mike Tyson holds the record for the most watched telecast on FOX at like 45M.
Boxing does more revenue than the UFC every year.
Mayweather-Pacquiao did almost as much revenue as the UFC did last year.
Mayweather-pacquiao did over $500M in revenue.
UFC claims they did $600M in revenue last year and they claimed thats way more than they ever did before.
So Mayweather-Pacquiao does $500M. Canelo-Cotto does $58M. Thats $558M right there with just two fights.
Conversation over
d says
Every comment you make is 100% false. Every statistic you make is 100% false. It must really be killing you that mma is dominating the market share right now and may even triple up boxing in ppv buys and revenue this year. Not to mention the top 3 draws in combat sports are all in the UFC!
I agree the conversation is over, you are delusional.
turd says
greatest your talking about one ppv , the ufc outsells boxing every year.
the ufc has a 100 m per year deal on ppv , boxing doesnt have any deal that big.
i am a long time boxing fan, but your arguments are stupid
boxing was much bigger in the states in the 80’s and 90’s now not so much.
come here at the end of the year and lets compare boxing ppv numbers to the ufcs
for the year i guarantee the ufc will trounce boxing this year.
The Greatest says
Exactly. Im talking about one fight that nearly made as much as the entire UFC. Thats 1 fight that made about $600M in revenue.
And then you have to add the other 1000 matches across the world.
But what you fail to realize is two key things.
Ppv numbers arent the argument and the US isn’t the only thing that matters. Global numbers matter, and globally it is not even comparable. Boxing and soccer are the most popular sports in the world.
And the UFC has a roughly $100M a year deal with FOX. But as the owner of the UFC is quoted saying, thats not entirely accurate since the UFC has to pay 100% of all costs to put on shows on FOX.
d says
Again, more delusional lies from the Weakest. That fight came no where near 600m in revenue. You are using Floyd Mayweather math again.
The UFC made more money than EVERY MAJOR BOXING PROMOTION COMBINED last year. It isn’t even a comparison.
“Ppv numbers arent the argument and the US isn’t the only thing that matters.”
They were your argument until you realized it was impossible to deny the fact that the UFC dominates in the US and ppv as a whole.
“Boxing and soccer are the most popular sports in the world.”
Soccer is, boxing is not. Curling is probably more popular abroad than boxing. Haha.
“And the UFC has a roughly $100M a year deal with FOX. But as the owner of the UFC is quoted saying, thats not entirely accurate since the UFC has to pay 100% of all costs to put on shows on FOX.”
Delusions again. The UFC does NOT have to pay 100% of the costs. That’s why they have a split production crew with FOX, you do realize Curt Menefee does not work for the UFC, right? Also, how much is the production costs for the UFC for FOX and FS1 events? Not too much. Plus, do you really want to get into discussions about right’s fees with boxing promotions? PBC has blew through hundreds of millions with NOTHING to show for other than that jumbotron. The UFC gets paid more through that deal than any boxing promotion could dream of. That’s why Hayman made the attempt to go through network tv, his problem is their product failed miserably.
turd says
as a long time boxing fan, boxing was much bigger and more populr in the 80’s and 90’s
it did huge ratings on h.b.o at one time, but those days are long gone, i believe tyson vs holmes 24 million people tuned in for that on h.b.o that is how much boxing has faded.
yes pac vs mayweather did huge business but that will not happen again.
for many many years if ever.
ufc is doing much better in the states than boxing
