Every Bellator fight at Bellator 149 drew over 1 million average viewers according to Spike TV.ย  The Kimbo Slice-Dada 5,000 drew the highest rating with 2.9 million viewers.

The breakdown is as follows:

Emmanuel Sanchez-Daniel Pineda: 1.9 million viewers

200m viewers in China…did Nielsen’s analyze those numbers? A nice round promoter’s figure. Hahaha. China’s market equals maybe the size of a small US city market in terms of revenue.

As for the Russian charity promoter, yeah, money money money….down the drain. There is no revenue to back up those purses. He bid more than 2m over the next highest bid for a reason. This is what boxing has come down to..charity.

Just out of curiosity, why do you guys argue the “boxing vs. mma” argument? Ive been checking out these articles for a while now and I dont get it. Are you all fighters? How does either sports viewership effect you? Do you guys honestly not enjoy all combat sports? I think there is room for all of them…boxing, mma, kickboxing, just like there is room for football, baseball, basketball, hockey, tennis, nascar, formula 1, soccer, golf, etc etc

by the way, great for Bellator…good to see their numbers are high. I think WSOF is a losing promotion that has its days numbered, though I think it would be a good move actually for Bellator to buy out WSOF to include a younger fighter base to compliment its older fighter appeal to the fans. I have never been a fan of total UFC domination of the sport.

Boxers to make more than mma fighters though. But why even compare them? Two different sports gentlemen….

Headlining boxers make more, and that is because they are overpaid and the ufc fighters are somewhat underpaid. It has nothing to do with the revenue coming in, because as we are seeing, the UFC dominates the ppv marketshare and also their tv ratings are significantly better these days- even Bellator’s numbers are better.
