Rousey tops athlete Google searches for 2015

December 16, 2015 by Jason Cruz 28 Comments

Ronda Rousey was the top athlete searched for in 2015 according to Google.  She was also 5th on the list in overall trending searches.

Rousey was the top active athlete searched for in 2015 by search engine Yahoo!  The news released Wednesday by Google confirms that Rousey was a hot topic for 2015.  Rousey fought 3 times this year losing her last fight this past November to Holly Holm.  Notably, Holly Holm was second on the list of athlete searches according to Google.  Stephen Curry, Manny Pacquiao and Alex Morgan rounded out the top 5.

Rousey was behind former NBA star Lamar Odom, the movies Jurassic World, American Sniper and reality star Caitlyn Jenner in overall searches.

Payout Perspective:

There’s no real surprise here with Rousey.  It will be interesting to see if Holly Holm can generate the same google search interest as Rousey.  Also, will Rousey continue to be a hot commodity despite the loss to Holm?

So Lamar Odom was the most searched athlete of 2015?
    Stupid list.
They should put the most listed words searched for after the athletes name.
For instance i bet most searches were “Rousey kicked in head” or “Rousey ruthlessly destroyed by boxer”

Ronda and Holm two most searched athletes, thats awesome.

Lamar Odom was the most searched athlete.
2x NBA Champion, a gold medal, and made more money in one year than Rouseys made in her life.

Probably could be UFC HW champ in two months if he had a good camp.
Hes an A level athlete, and those don’t exist in the UFC.

Pretty awesome to see in 2015 two top athletes googled were not only mma fighters but female mma fighters.

Something nobody would have thought a few years ago.

Surprised Floyd wasnt on the list with Floyd/Manny fight being so huge.

Lamar Odom could have definitely been hw boxing champ, not UFC though. Different worlds. Boxing takes only a fraction of the skill that mma does. MMA is much more complex and difficult.

Funny how low down the lists boxers are.

Pacquaio behind both Holm and Rousey.

    HAHAHA!

    D stands for “denial”.

Mayweather earned in one night more money than McGregor did this year!
And in Germany, Klitchko vs Fury drew 9 million viewers. When was the last time the UFC generated so much interest home and abroad? Like, never?

How about we take into account the Chinese search engines? I’m sure the athletes the Chinese are interested in have a much bigger following than any of the UFC’s overrated cashcows.

Tops you said did I answer your previous post, what post? Unless you forgot you posted under your other account names either Greatest or Fight Fan.

Did you forget to change accounts Tops? So sad, so lame, spamming mma sites with your boxing trolling.

Ronda biggest combat sports name, McGregor ripping shit, back to back 1 mill PPV, another year of most PPV buys and 2016 is gonna be huge.

UFC killing shit, PBC just did 1.8 mill viewers on network tv in primetime, UFC prelims did 2 mill.

MMA is so complex that math teachers end up becoming champs.

Yea guys global boxers dont make anything.
Thats why Ricky Hatton made $35M in 2007 and sold 1.2M ppvs in the U.K. and 920k in the U.S. for his ppv with Mayweather. Thats 2.12M ppvs for one fight.

“MMA is so complex that math teachers end up becoming champs.”

Homelessness is the prerequisite for boxing championship material. That and window washing.

“Yea guys global boxers dont make anything.”

    I agree.

Even if that number is true, it is solely because he fought Mayweather. I notice you also don’t comprehend tense. 2007 is not 2015.
