UFC Fight Night 80 attendance, gate and bonuses

December 10, 2015 by Jason Cruz 11 Comments

MMA Junkie reports the attendance, gate and bonuses for Thursday’s UFC Fight Night 80 at the Cosmopolitan Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Rose Namajunas, Tim Means, Jim Miller and Michael Chiesa all won $50,000 bonuses.  Namajunas and Means won for Performances of the Night while Miller and Chiesa earned Fight of the Night.  Chiesa won the bout with a submission victory over Miller.  Means knocked out John Howard in Round 2 of their fight and Namajunas scored the upset victory over Paige VanZant.

It was a rather intimate gathering for a UFC event with attendance at The Chelsea drawing 1,643 for a gate of $234,725.

Payout Perspective:

The Chelsea at the Cosmopolitan has multiple floor arrangements, but according to this, the one that that most resembles what the UFC would utilize holds capacity at 2,566.  The event kicked off a three day fight weekend in Las Vegas culminating with UFC 194.  The first night ended with an upset victory (according to oddsmakers) by Rose Namajunas.

234K probably easily covers the cheap salaries of the fighters. The ads sold probably cover the other expenses.

Waiting for Fight Fan to talk about how this fight wasn’t aired at his local Buffalo Wild Wings.

Not a bad investment. And Saturday’s even alone pays for this weekday cards. Plus, again, they’re likely not losing much money on the FN and TUF cards, if at all

    Jason,

Is that addressed to people like Topps, Fight Fan, etc. as well, who solely come on here to troll? I was responding to them as I’ve pointed out in the past, these guys have no interest in the articles, etc. They just come on here to annoy people. This was the basis for the complaints on here. I can dig up quotes from people complaining over and over again over a long period of time about them specifically.

Just look at the opening statement: “waiting for D to come spin this as a huge success.”

    I’m not initiating this.
