UFC 193 drew a record 56,214 for a gate of $6.8 million (U.S.). In addition, Holly Holm was the big winner earning 2 fight bonuses in her upset victory over Ronda Rousey.
The UFC announced the record-setting attendance at its post-fight press conference. The gate is second to UFC 129 which pulled in $11 million. The 56,214 narrowly beats the gate for UFC 129 as that event which featured GSP-Jake Shields drew 55,724.
The bonuses were awarded to Holm and Rousey for Fight of the Night. Holm and Kyle Noke earned Performances of the Night. All earned the $50K bonus.
Payout Perspective:
Darren Rovell tweeted out a picture earlier in the night of comped tickets indicating that many people had them. There were many photo posts on social media showing many empty seats in the upper bowl of the stadium.
Strange to see how many tickets to UFC event tonight posted on social media are comped tickets pic.twitter.com/yeU0TRq2uV

It’s not uncommon to comp tickets for big events. The UFC used to announce the number of comped tickets it handed out for each event but has not done this in some time. We will probably never know how many tickets were comped for tonight but the announced gate is undoubtedly impressive.
As for the bonuses, Holm deserved the double bump for her performance. There were several other great performances tonight on the prelims which could have earned bonuses as well. Still, tonight was Holm’s night as she dethroned the champ.

Hahahahahahaha…dw did not look happy ….all the hype..product did not deliver…got dominated…so ufc alienated hardcore fans with 14 yr old girl demo…hahaha…rousey got exposed.
.funny when they recruited( and succeeding fights)holm to be rouseys future opponent they hyped her as boxing world champ all the time but during the fight rogan kept.mentioning her kickboxing credentials(6 fights?)before her boxing…goldberg slipped and said boxing champ then had to add kickboxing…memo dont mention ex boxing champ beats a “once ever” (better than once a lifetime)female athlete…

This should be a case-study of what happens when everyone believes & incessantly parrots whatever the promoter wants them to. Ronda Rousey is/was a product of hype, a one-trick-pony in the same vein of Gina Carano a couple of years back. She was handed down a belt without earning it, given very favourable match-ups and hyped to ridiculous levels that only a truly retarded UFC fanboy can believe.
This is not a Mike Tyson/Buster Douglas upset in anyway whatsoever, this is simply what happens when hype meets reality, and the reality is of a former boxing champ with limited MMA experience in an already weak division, making the ‘OMG-ONCE-EVER’, ‘absolute-BESTEST-athlete-in-the-whole-wide-galaxy-who-can-beat-giant-men’ look like an absolute fool with nothing but your basic boxing lateral movement & nice/clean straight lefts.
Holly Holm Professional Boxing Record of 33-2-3

And with very limited MMA experience and a paltry pro kickboxing record of 2-1, the other couple of fights attributed to her are actually amateur matches. This just speaks of the quality of competition in WMMA and why you should never built a sport/division and put all your eggs on an unproven hype-basket. F*** the UFC, PRIDE Never die!
fight fan says
Logical that is simply the best way to put it. Dana is probably crying like a baby right now since his cash cow is gone and Lesnar is never coming back. Rousey even had the nerve to not touch gloves before the fight.

“Holly was the right fight. Ronda had never faced anybody that uses the range and distance the way that she does. This woman has four times more fights than Ronda does. This was the right fight.
From Dw(desperation)
Hahaha…4x more fights? in boxing..is it counted in mma?how bout judo matches not counted in mma?
Random Dude says
It’s rare to see such a one-sided, horrible beating dished out in a championship fight from the very beginning to the very end.
Holly Holm absolutely destroyed Ronda Rousey. Ronda’s corner should have thrown in the towel at several different points to save their fighter from what turns out to be serious damage and Herb Dean could have legitimately stopped the fight at a couple of points too. I’m glad that none of that happened so that Holm’s domination cannot be questioned. Amazing victory.
Championship-level boxers are no joke. Holm was barely breathing through the fight. I guess all those running clinics boxers at her level do paid off bigtime. Ronda was out of breath 2 minutes into the fight.
Interesting says
I think the UFC threw Ronda under the bus in order to create a new wave of sensationalism and get more attention.
This is what the UFC does, it goes from hype to hype. I won’t be surprised if they will throw Ronda under the bus again until she becomes useless like the Diaz brothers.
I feel sorry for Ronda. I like her a lot.
mmaguru says
I was not able to watch the fight live, but did see the highlights and news feeds the next day. It appears that Ronda was outclassed. We will know in the coming days what led up to a loss in such a devastating factor. (a) Holly is a much better fighter, (b) Ronda was injured, or (c) Ronda had too many distractions and a terrible training camp.
With that in mind, I’m surprised that the event did as well with attendance considering the lack of fire power in the under card. Not to say that our boy Hunt is not a big draw, but 50K to see Ronda fight seems like a big success story, regardless of all the comps.
joe says
I haven’t looked into it yet but my goodness the gate seems low as hell for the attendance.
Gil says
Some good points have been made all around. Goldberg catching himself when he called Holm a boxer then trying to emphasize kick boxer was interesting and perhaps telling.
Maybe they didn’t want to leave the opening for any fans to make a connection the UFC would not like. Such as thinking, wow a former boxing champ just walked into the ufc and crushed the once in human history mma fighter with ease.
Spartacus says
To all of the ignorant boxing fan boys, most notably the boxing propogandist, logical, Holly Holm has trained in mma for over 7 years. She trains at the most decorated camp in mma with the likes of Jon Jones. Anyone claiming or implying that this was a boxer defeating a mma fighter, is beyond ignorant. Go watch the fight again, all of the damage came from elbows and kicks. She defended an arm bar and take downs against the best. Not something someone with limited experience could accomplish.
More importantly, as long as Rousey wins the rematch, this was the best thing that could happen to Whote, because the rematch will be massive.
