PBC on FS1 debut draws 184,000 viewers

September 11, 2015 by Jason Cruz 31 Comments

Premier Boxing Champions debut on FS1 on Tuesday night drew 184,000 viewers from 9-10:43pm per Sports TV Ratings.  The event was headlined by Austin Trout taking on Joey Hernandez.

PBC replaced Golden Boy Boxing as the promotion of choice for FS1 this summer.  The event on FS1 went up against the US Open on ESPN which featured the matchup between sisters Serena and Venus Williams.  The US Open block on ESPN from 7:07pm-1:12am ET drew 3.321 million viewers.

As we do not have the ratings from PBC’s debut on Bounce TV, the 184,000 viewers is likely the lowest reported ratings debut for PBC thus far on its family of networks.

Payout Perspective:

The 184,000 viewers is not really an improvement from Golden Boy’s offering on the network.  Tuesday night’s do not seem like the optimum night for viewers but with the NFL and college football coming out there’s not many days to hold live boxing events.  Perhaps what may be considered surprising is that there are two more PBC cards on this week (PBC on Spike Friday and PBC on NBC Saturday) in addition to the Mayweather-Berto fight Saturday night.

MMAPayout, if you really want to promote healthy conversation on this site then you have to ban a few of the trolls who do nothing but come here to start shit and hate on mma.

Sal complains and then turns around and does the same thing, dude is the biggest hypocrite I’ve ever seen.

he compares PBC to UFC ratings when PBC is good but then when someone does the same when PBC numbers are bad he cries about it.

He cries about this but as soon as a UFC card does bad ratings or PPV buys he’s the first one in there laughing about it.

while this number is horrid it doesnt even count. i didnt even know pbc was on Foxsports 1. this card wasnt promoted and pbc is now on its 13th network. the recent pbc on espn showed it can do strong numbers as did several nbc cards. this is just too damn confusing at this point and the matchmaking sucks.

Jason what do you think Floyd PPV does? Its still Floyd so it will do good business, he hasnt sold out and didnt have a full house for the weigh ins but its probably gonna be his lowest PPV since he became a mega star after the Oscar fight.

Hyping it as his last fight to get interest even though we all know next Sept he’s coming back for 50 and have HBO/Showtime bid on it.

But what does it do? I’ve seen some say 800k and others predict 500k. What does he do?

Chris – I think that the PPV number will be buried (as in you will never see it) by Showtime. Recall Espinoza saying he wouldn’t announce PPV buy numbers after the first Maidana fight. So, we may never get an actual “official” PPV buy rate. There’s a lot of negative momentum coming into this fight weekend. Notably, there will be 5 boxing events on television (CBS Sunday, FS1 Tuesday, Spike and TruTV Friday and NBC Saturday afternoon)this week even before Floyd’s PPV. Boxing fans may have their fill even before Saturday night.

With that being said, I think it does 500K. There’s not really an ethnic tie to this fight so there will not be that draw to the event. Analysts are straining to find some sort of angle to infer Berto has a chance in this fight. Frankly, Berto doesn’t pose a threat to Mayweather and there has not been any crazy rivalry to get behind. So, there will be a hardcore boxing base that buys the fight plus Floyd fans (yes, there are some out there that respect his talents in the ring) and then those that are just curious. Add those up and we should get at least 500K.

Goldenboy actually did better ratings than this did on FS1.
But not really a big deal at all since there was an event on CBS afternoon last Sunday, this event on Tuesday, an event with Adonis today (Friday), an event on NBC tomorrow afternoon and then the Mayweather ppv 2maro night.
Only two UFC events for this entire month.

So just to be clear- this doesn’t count because you didn’t know it was on? Nice try idiot.

There was a very low profile UFC on FS1 recently that demolished this.

Yeah and those two UFC events are going to destroy anything PBC does on their respective stations.

    Dummy.

Chris is right. As long as you guys allow morons like Tops, Sal, The Greatest, Sampson and his 100 aliases, Fightbusiness, etc. to come on here and troll, there is not going to be any healthy conversation. I really don’t care either way, but if my comments are going to get censored, theirs should too.

I welcome change. Even though I have been banned from every forum (for lame stuff) the boxing trolls are killing the credibility of this site. Any casual fans who see great info on the sport from this site also go on to see boxing trolls get the last word as they bash the sport, call people names, and spread lies and false information. They are bad for the sport and this site. It’s one thing to have debate between people. It’s another when it’s people who have little reason to be here who are negative and attack on every article and every person.

If anyone new to this sport and site come on here and said something positive about the article, ufc, or MMA they would be attacked just as if they were D or myself and ran from this site. While Regulars know who the trolls are. New customers do not know that. To them the trolls represent the site and all its viewers.

I was banned for far less than you have got by with here. Also you are not speaking your mind on the article which is what this comment section is for. It’s why it follows an article rather than being a forum section on the site. You are a troll and nothing more. While the sites I was banned on was for fighter “bashing”. Moderators who are Mirko Cro Cop fans don’t like when you say he has a weak chin. They like it even less when he gets knocked out in the very fight they were debating.

Tops, if you want to be serious for a minute- think about how mentally ill you are. You have been coming on this site on a daily basis to throw out lies, propaganda and idiotic insults for years. It wouldn’t matter if anyone ignored you, that’s how much of a quack you are. You also give zero rational commentary. It isn’t as if you come on here and have balanced criticisms of the UFC, MMA ,etc. It is just pure trolling because you are a very insecure moron.

I’m fine with them banning/censoring people for trolling, provided they start blocking idiots like you from coming on here and just purely trolling. That’s the only way to stop that nonsense.
