UFC 191 attendance, gate and bonuses

September 5, 2015 by Jason Cruz 15 Comments

The Wrestling Observer tweeted out the attendance, gate and bonuses for UFC 191.

UFC 191 at the MGM Grand Arena drew 10,783 fans for a gate of $1.367 million.  Performance of the night went to Anthony Johnson and Raquel Pennington.  Of course, the Fight of the Night went to Francisco Rivera and John Lineker.

Payout Perspective:

A rather tame night on PPV as there was nothing too exciting about tonight’s PPV.  The announced attendance and gate was rather low and expected based on the lack of ticket demand for Saturday’s event.  The Rivera-Lineker ending was tweeted out by Fox Sports.  It aired on the Prelims on FS1.  With college football opening this weekend, it’s hard to think that this PPV gets a lot of interest.

And as low profile of a fight as this is, it still destroys 99.9% of boxing gates this year. How many boxing gates so far this year beat this number? I’m guessing around 3. Pathetic.

    This PPV was pretty dull.

The fans in attendance were booing a lot.

WMMA is trash right now. I don’t know why they bothered putting it on the Main Card.

Mir and Arlovski looked their age.

And DJ v Dodson was not exciting either.

I only watch Mir vs Arlovski on a stream and man was it dull. I feel bad for whoever paid for the actual PPV. It’s like the UFC does this to Johnson on purpose, they make him headline these shit cards with zero promotion to back him up.

Yeah Sal, exactly, the boxing gates have always been shit other than 1 or 2 fights. Boxing is consolidated into basically two fights per year and from here on out, they won’t be really big anymore because of the competition and loss of their two biggest stars.

Not exactly the numbers the UFC is looking for from Johnson if he is to headline PPV events from Vegas. They would be better off using him for the tent poll Fox events.
