Payout Perspective:
Saturday night’s event from Nashville did better (re attendance and gate) than last month’s mid-week fight event from San Diego and June’s event from Miami. Both of those cards had better fights on those cards yet Nashville did better with drawing fans.

What do you think about Meltzer’s new estimates that put UFC 189 at around 800k buys. This shows that it is important not to get carried away by early trends, his early estimates were at 950k – 1M, with the UFC pushing even higher, so that is quite the dip in numbers. Something to keep in mind is that Meltzer is always generous with his estimates–better to err higher than lower–So I wouldn’t be surprised if they were actually a little lower than 800k.

Dana White looking like an absolute moron just about now:
“He was medically cleared, but he decided to not fight,” White told hosts Kenny Florian and Daniel Cormier. “He stood to make a lot of money in this fight. The bigger issue was making weight. You lose a fighter like Jose Aldo and put Mendes in and we added to the gate. This fight is breaking every record, pre-buys on PPV, traffic on the website, it’s bigger than UFC 100. This will be the biggest fight ever.
Right…

Logical, you are delusional. First off his, first range was 700k-1.1m. Then he said around 950, now he is saying 800-850k. His prediction if Aldo had been the opponent was 750k. He does not inflate his numbers to begin with. As a matter of fact a number of times the figures have gone up. He said the Rousey-Zingano fight wound up over 600k afterwards, which was a higher number than his initial estimates. Just depends on the event.
Also, what I find amusing is you guys never seem to have a problem with the bullshit lies that boxing promoters throw out there and have no criticism for their inflated figures. At least with the UFC, we have someone unbiased putting up the real numbers, unlike in boxing where they just blatantly lie about the success of the event.
d says
Hey Leon- you are still alive, MMAPAYOUT updated the blue book so that the UFC needs 125k more buys to hit 5m. It is going to be a major insult to injury when Mighty Mouse puts them over the mark at 5m. Hahaha.
saldathief says
hahaha hahahahah more lies and more lies. Dana keeps proving all my points for me, this is getting easy
Chris says
Actually Meltzer just said 5 minutes ago on mmahour his numbers are low and only are for US/Canada, dont include Australia and few other places it was on PPV and online buys on UFC.tv
Said same thing about 190 that 900k is a nice safe estimate but he coudl be off by 20 percent and that he’s got people saying it will do past a million.
Thats what early numbers are trends and estimates and you wait for real numbers.
They said Floyd/Manny was trending and tracking well over 5 mill, it did 4.4. Obviously thats an amazing number that will never be topped but point early on nobody has an exact number. Sometimes low, sometimes high, takes little bit for them to settle on the real number.
When all is said and done I’d probably say 189 does 900k and 190 does around a mill. Both amazing numbers 3 weeks apart.
UFC having a great summer, great year.
After a terrible last year its good to see them bounce back, mma feels hot again like it did few years ago, big fights, big names, good time to be fan of mma nad boxing.
d says
Chris, only difference is no one with any credibility has fact checked the Mayweather number- Meltzer does for UFC.
Saldathief says
Both numbers are great if true. Even 400 k and 500k would be great. But why lie and make it something that it clearly isn’t. Also i dont know if rousey being the number one draw is good for mma.

One day a kid was telling a story to his friends, a story about a man named D.
Now D was an angry man. A self centered man. An ignorant man of sorts.
He spent his days, alone, cursing the world for misunderstanding him.
D was an irrelevant man, a generic man. A type of man you’ve met numerous times whose name is Clint, yet you continuously call him Brandon throughout out the evening.
Well one day D disappeared. And the neighborhood wondered.
Rumor has it that he snapped.
They claimed he heard a voice. A voice that was terrifying, that spoke of truth and reason.
The voice only said one sentence. But it was firm, a voice of fortitude.
D, lied to himself, denied it to himself, said to the voice that it just couldn’t be true.
But the voice continued.
He couldn’t shake it. He couldn’t accept it, he could only be consumed by these words as everyday little by little the voice muttered the same words over and over and over again…….
“4.4million”
Over and over and over and over…….
d says
…..This is coming from a mentally ill freak who stalks me from another site over here, who’s life’s goal is to prove “boxing wins”.
Nice cut and paste job retard.
4.4m …..Bob Arum numbers.
Fight Fan says
D regardless of what you say as far as “arum number’s” floyd’s checks don’t lie, not even buffalo wild wings by me wants to show the UFC anymore.
d says
Are you bed fellows with Floyd? Because last time I checked you didn’t receive his checks. The truth is the math of this delusional idiot doesn’t add up. He tried to say he made 300m profit from a fight that generated around 300m in gross. The math doesn’t add up.
Buffalo Wild Wings didn’t even carry Mayweather-Pacquaio, they do cover UFC fights contractually though across the board. Haha.
Chris says
D, floyd/Manny did 4.4 mill it was huge, it was an event, it was a once and a lifetime thing.
The numbers are real. Dont know why you’d say they werent, the fight was massive.
d says
Chris, I don’t believe that number for a minute. The pre and immediate post fight estimates by many were around 3-3.5m. I can’t say what the exact number is, but I do know you are taking the word of Bob Arum/Floyd Mayweather/Espinoza, etc. who are professional liars and have everything to gain from blowing up the number. Also, I agree it was huge, the biggest fight ever, but get someone with credibility to fact check these sociopaths before you accept what they are telling you.
d says
Also, even if it hit those inflated numbers- he still made no where near 300m for that fight. The fight would have grossed 300m at best. That is such a delusional number that idiot threw out there.
