MMA Junkie reports the attendance, gate and bonuses from Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 68.
The bonuses were awarded to Dustin Poirier, Shawn Jordan, Brian Ortega and Thiago Tavares. Each drew $50,000 bonuses. Poirier and Jordan earned “Performance of the Night” honors and Ortega and Tavares put on the “Fight of the Night.”
UFC Fight Night 68 at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans, Louisiana drew 6,231 for a gate of $621,523.
Payout Perspective:
There were lots of choices for the bonuses. My favorites not receiving the official bonuses were Ben Rothwell, Francisco Rivera and Dan Henderson. As for the gate, the arena houses 16,000-17,000 for the NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans. What will be interesting is to compare this attendance to WWE’s Raw which comes to the venue on Monday. Saturday’s Fight Night event did better in comparison to the last UFC Fight Night in the United States this year (April’s UFC Fight Night 63 did 5,417-$545,604). Daniel Cormier was to headline this event which may have cost the event some attendees although I would suggest that the attendance would not have gone up dramatically.
Dave Lebold says
The fight night attendance figures are routinely getting in the 6000 range, That is low especially when the UFC seems to try to cater to every local market. In Canada they have Canadians, New Orleans they have Louisianians(?) etc.
How can they compare themselves to any other big time sport when they draw these numbers? They are on par with the Frisco RoughRiders.
d says
These are better than boxing numbers would be for this profile type of fight.
joe says
d,
I think a hall of fame boxer with an under card of 2 top 15 heavyweights and a bunch of local talent could draw this much attendance.
But we’re both just assuming
d says
Attendance is irrelevant. What was the attendance for the Mayweather-Pacquaio fight? Probably a lot less than that of a stadium event or even a big indoor facility event. The only thing that matters is revenue and a washed up hall of famer who was ko’d in his last two fights and was never even a huge draw to begin with going up against a gate keeper is hardly a blockbuster event. What do you think a Roy Jones fight would do right now? Probably less at the gate.

LeonThePro says
Any leads yet on 187 buy rate? I wonder how close D for delusional was on his 700k prediction….
d says
Leon, you are in luck, finally you may be right despite the fact that you are a moron. Meltzer hasn’t officially announced anything but he is claiming it under performed. Congrats, you are now 1-3 on the year for predictions and will be 1-4 if we include the 5m buy rate prediction.
Even retards once in a while are right.
Leon the Schmo still coming in the Fall of 2015!!
LeonThePro says
Hahha Delusional calling me a moron when you just likely made a terrible prediction ; and with the hypocrisy that comes with it is comical. Will be even more funny should you lose our bet later this year. UFC has 1 star, and one in the works this July should he win…. The year looks quite bleak , you better pray Gsp comes back delusional!
What are you going to do if you can’t post here anymore? Let us know your Yahoo name and the rest of the forums you obsessively stalk so we can say hi! Hahagaga
Saldathief says
D spinning 6k gates now bahahahhahaha
d says
Hypocrisy??? HAHAHAHAHA!!!! You’ve been dead wrong with every prediction so far this year other than probably this one.
What’s funny is that you were desperately attempting to make more bets with me so you can save what little face you have left. You already know you are fucked for the 5m bet. There is no way they will fall under 5m. They are most likely going to break it before October.
Let’s say this really bombed and hit only 400k buys. That would mean we are still at 2.8m so far, with 7 ppvs left and only 2.2 needed. All I need is an average of 318k buys per fight, with the biggest fight of the year coming up in July.
Here’s what you have to look forward to:
-Velasquez vs. Werdum
-McGregor vs. Aldo
-Weidman vs. Rockhold
-Rousey vs Correira
Plus a possible mega card in December at MSG.
You need nearly every headliner to get injured at this point.
You are fucked. It’s already killing you that you can’t post often on here, because you are so embarrassed about your idiotic and awful predictions. You shit the bed left and right than finally resurface when you may have gotten one prediction right. HAHAHA!! Fucking moron.
The only one stalking anyone on here are the tards like you. You were the one stalking me for bets, etc. Now you are just pissed I proved you dead wrong and the fact that you are a complete fucking idiot.
Get ready for your new name.

D and LeonThePro
You two need to hook up on PPV, one handbag each.
LeonThePro says
You didn’t prove shit Delusional you are assuming which could be deadly for you. Of course you dick tucked for a side bet I offered which shows everyone how much faith you have in the UFC and youR shit predictions. Jus like when you pussed out on your 6m prediction originally hahha!
D for Delusional is starting to get real nervous. Makes a prediction then gets caught with his foot in his mouth when he can’t back it up. Bitch made.
d says
I proved your dumbass wrong over and over again. Are you in denial now you stupid fuck? My predictions have been 3-1 plus will be 4-1 when they hit 5million buys you idiot. Your predictions will be 1-4 come this fall thus proving how much of an idiot you are and the fact that you are just a shameless tard. You actually bitched out of your original prediction/analysis which was that they would do 2014 numbers in 2015 due to injuries. You realize now you were dead wrong and are desperately attempting to spin it.
Think about how delusional you are: you were finally right for the first time after being dead wrong 3 and soon to be 4x this year and you are saying my predictions are horrible when mine will be 4-1. Only a shameless vagina would continue with this embarrassment. Going to be so much better when you finally have to change that name you stupid fuck. Can’t wait for it. HAHAHA!!!
saldathief says
The Smoothie King Center has a cap of 18k, the average available ticket price on this show was $34.50 on a $621,523 gate. The sell percentage of this show is 34%.
That’s complete dog shit for a show! UFC local sponsors are running away, UFC ticket numbers are dropping due to sponsors not supporting ticket sales in most markets now. Meaning, ufc inflated gate numbers with sponsor money. Next
d says
If that was dogshit, how bad was the Khan-Algieri fight which only drew 7000k at the Barclay’s Center which has a 19k capacity and 5x the overhead?
Talk about dogshit!
saldathief says
Boxing never used sponsors to buy tickets, hence on some fights you see empty seats close to the ring. Boxing makes its adjustments and spends or saves money accordingly. The UFC spends and spends and lies, yes lies more then boxing. They created a false market which is going away right before your stupid eyes! Even on shit ufc shows you won’t see empty seats near the ring, Those are sold sponsor seats or comps. D is way too stupid to know how the game is played and can’t grab the truth that the ufc is a false marketing ,machine that is failing miserably. Boxing has been doing it their own way for 100 years. 1.5 million on HBO sat and PBC smoked the UFC also.
saldathief says
D please let us know where you get your info for Khan-Algieri.
d says
You are an idiot who makes shit up as he goes along.
Also, you are saying the UFC is taking a hit on these cards because their numbers are inflated. That’s funny because if anyone between the two of them are taking a hit from those 2 shows we are discussing it was boxing. The Khan fight probably only had a gate of around 400k. The purses were in the 2.5m range. The high production costs were probably 2-3m, not including advertising, paying the promoter’s fee, licensing, taxes, etc. on a time buy deal with weak ad money. The UFC card had a bigger gate, had purses that were half of the cost of the boxing card, the production costs weren’t nearly as much as PBC’s, and were paid a right’s fee with an actual tv deal in place, not time buy.
You rant like a maniac and are a total moron.
d says
What info would you like from Khan-Algieri?
Everything I stated is valid. If you want sources I can provide them.
The purses for the headliners were 2m.
The attendance was 7000, for a show at Barclay’s based on past boxing cards, that is a very low gate.
Also, as you love to point out- the taxes are sky high in NY, even furthering the fact that they took a bath for this one.
The huge article written that MMAPAYOUT cited, noted about PBC’s production costs, etc, shows the high costs they have for these shows.
