The Ultimate Fighter 21 Episode 3 drew an additional viewership of 160,000 viewership in Live +3 ratings which brought the show up to 524,000 viewers according to Nielsen sources.
The average viewership bump for Wednesday’s show is at 174,000 viewers. The average Live +3 (or DVR +3 rating) is 573,000 viewers.
Episode 1 – 490,000, DVR +3 704,000; Gain +214,000
Episode 2 – 454,000, DVR +3 646,000; Gain +192,000
Episode 3 – 364,000, DVR +3 524,000; Gain +160,000
Episode 4 – 286,000, DVR +3 415,000; Gain +129,000
Payout Perspective: If we are to look at the bright side of these numbers, the same TUF episode is being played again during the week on FS1. Thus, the viewership should be more than this. Still, these numbers are poor compared to previous seasons.
Logical says
TUF does have respectable DVR gains, but it still needs to bite the dust and have something unique and different replace it. The early seasons were successful for a reason; It was something new, there were no free fights on TV (aside from that deal between PrideFC and the old Fox Sports Net channel where they would show fights sporadically), you either waited for a PPV every 2 or 3 months or you watched pirate broadcasts of PrideFC/FujiTV or waited for the DVD/VHS… now with the oversaturation of the market nobody cares about investing their time on fighters whose fights are completely irrelevant. I haven’t watched since season 8 and I was already wasting my time then.

Good one Dana Talk out you ass once again! Why dont you try promoting 187 instead of trying to make a headline after boxing just broke all the records!

Cool.
How long did boxing’s “The Contender” do?
d says
Sal ranting like the retard again. He needs to change his messy diapers.
FightBusiness says
saldathief- donna also said the ufc would be bigger than football by now and mayweather vs pac would do about 3 million ppv buys. the mma crowd are not exactly the sharpest tools in the shed. in all honesty NO ONE on the street knows Cyborg and almost no one knows Rousey enough to pay for her. they just think shes eye candy (as do i). Rousey could never clear more than 600k on her own. aldo vs mcgregor cant crack one million ppv buys. this weekends card wont crack 600k. GGG Froach on deck at wembley. Shits too damn easy.
d says
Haha. Every statistic fagbusiness presents is dead wrong and completely fabricated.
That being said, of course Dana White is delusional here…..just as delusional as Bob Arum’s 4m ppv buy statistic that you two tards drink up. Funny how boxing promoters always seem to tell the truth and mma promoters don’t….according to a world class boxing troll like you.
Rousey most likely did crack 600k buys on her own. According to Meltzer, her last ppv is at 590k and will most likely go over 600k when everything is counted.
Aldo vs McGregor will definitely crack 1m buys- you can count on it.
GGG-Froch at Wembley…….0 US PPV buys. Enjoy $17 Sky TV buys. HAHAHA!!
FightBusiness says
d- whats your fixation with ppv. so if a fight is on free tv and seen by 2 million people in the us 10 million in europe its not good? dana is making a prediction thats why its not believable. Bob arum and HBO are reporting final numbers. you are still in belief arent you D? LOL. I hear you man 4.4 million preliminary is almost not real. takes your breath away doesnt it big man? I told you boxing is doing WONDERFUL and you were in denial. so i can understand the fact you think arum is lying and white thinks this fight can do 2 million ppv’s. MMA fans are completely detached from reality. shits getting TOOO damn easy for the sweet science, just tooo damn easy. get ready for your new nickname in the winter. “i love ding ding” LOl
d says
If you eliminate ppv, the revenue goes way down. To compare this to big ppv fights it isn’t even close.
HAHAHAHA!!! Bob Arum and HBO reported bullshit numbers. Who would take Bob Arum’s word about anything? Only troll retards do.
No, you see, I’m honest and objective, I know White is full of shit. Just like I know Arum is. You are the idiot who believes the word of a promoter. MMA fans aren’t agreeing with White, but idiotic boxing fans listen to anything that Bob Arum claims. Goes to show that MMA fans are brighter than their boxing idiotic counterparts.
Are you still really believing they won’t hit 5m??? You are brain dead. That will happen by no later than September. Hahaha.
saldathief says
Here is how stupid D is. When a boxer retires he can throw away all his old contracts and start over new if he decides to make a come back. HBO is owned by a public company so all revenue will be made public eventually, so those numbers are most likely spot on, also HBO/Showtime Maypac and Arum have no reason to lie they have 4,4 million plus reasons not to. Just look at every single word out of Dana’s mouth, they are all lies, the guy never tells the truth time after time. D cant handle the fact that even if maypac retire its good for boxing. If they come back its better. Its a win win. Now lets see the UFC? what do they have? Rousey? cm punk? maybe GSP will make a comeback? Jones?????? NYC????????? 189?????? Cyborg ???? Its a joke! Oh and Mexico isn’t a sell out bahahahaha
d says
Right Sal, just like the Guerrero Mayweather numbers were made public. Only, they weren’t you stupid fucking idiot. They don’t release ppv numbers to the public. The only one’s with audit rights are the fighters/promoters/HBO/Showtime execs.
The rest of your ranting is more incoherent diaper shit laced, geriatric rambling.
gambino says
“Who would take Bob Arum’s word on anything? Only troll retards do.”
So apparently Dave Meltzer is a troll retard now? Even he is quoting the 4.4 million number in this recent article http://www.mmafighting.com/2015/5/17/8603201/will-mayweather-pacquiao-numbers-hurt-the-next-ufc-ppv-events
And he specifically says that that’s only a first estimate, insinuating that the final numbers will probably be over 4.4m.
d says
Gambino, he is quoting what Arum/HBO/Showtime said. It is obvious because those were the exact words everyone was using to describe it.
Meltzer doesn’t do any investigative work on boxing numbers. He has admitted this in the past.
Why are boxing fans so desperate.
d says
Also, are you claiming Bob Arum isn’t completely full of shit? Especially when it comes to ppv numbers, etc.?
Gambino says
The ppv numbers didn’t actually come from Arum. Arum was actually saying 4.9 million and Mayweather was saying over 5 million. The numbers came from the cable/satellite providers. The same place where Meltzer gets his numbers from. The tv networks and promoters had their names attached to the press release that announced the official numbers but they had nothing to do with figuring them out, that’s why almost every credible MMA reporter has taken them as fact.
d says
False. The ppv numbers did come from Arum and Ellerbe. This was filtered to Iole.
The cable/satellite providers did not in any way shape or form report this. That would actually be illegal. They never report those numbers to the public. Those numbers are obtained typically from insiders like Meltzer and Rafael in the past- although the latter clearly didn’t investigate the numbers based on his statements. Those two also never get the numbers directly from the providers, but from advertising agencies.
Your source for everything you just commented on is you. Do you enjoy just blatantly lying?
The Greatest says
D you’re just looking sad now.
Apparently Meltzer and Rafael are good sources for ppv except for this time because D personally knows how they get their information.
Why dont you just post ppv numbers D since your the only one on the planet who knows the true numbers.
P.s. D dropped another reference to Mayweather-Guerrero.
Stop livin in the past bro
d says
The Gayest, no one is more sad than a freak like you who stalks people over the internet from site to site.
Also, Meltzer does not investigate boxing ppv numbers….EVER. Only WWE/UFC. Rafael used to, but stopped for whatever reason.
Rafael didn’t claim his sources confirmed this number. He just accepted what these idiots claimed.
I’m not the one who claims he knows the exact number, you are. I do know that they are blatantly exaggerating. It was obvious when everyone ran with Iole’s numbers. Why don’t we just start accepting what Dana White says through Iole from now on? So I guess, UFC 100 did 2.6m buys.
The Mayweather-Guerrero fight is relevant to bring up, because it was a prime example of how a promoter is blatantly lying about the numbers and the fact that the numbers were never and never will be released publicly.
Does one have to train hard to be as retarded as you?
d says
Here you go retard:
This was Rafael’s original report:
“According to initial figures released Tuesday by Showtime and HBO, more than 4.4 million pay-per-view telecasts of the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight were purchased in the United States, generating more than $400 million in revenue. Those figures nearly doubled the previous record for PPV buys and more than doubled the mark for highest PPV revenue.”
Key words “ACCORDING TO INITIAL FIGURES RELEASED TUESDAY BY SHOWTIME AND HBO”.
If it were Rafael’s source, it would be according to my sources. He got the numbers from the promotion.
Let’s start taking Dana White’s numbers from here on out.
Gambino says
It’s not illegal for cable companies to report ppv numbers. Verizon was the first one to report they did 250k buys. http://www.rapidtvnews.com/2015050638207/mayweather-pacquiao-sets-ppv-records.html#axzz3avuXUA3q
The Showtime/HBO/Top Rank/Mayweather Promotions report was just the total amount of buys as reported to them by the cable distributers.
As far as Dave Meltzer goes, he’s done plenty of research into boxing ppv numbers. I don’t think he’s realeased his own estimates since Mayweather-Guerrero, which he said did 900k, but up to that point he was still considered the gold standard on boxing ppv numbers.
d says
How do you take your self seriously? Reporting that it drew over 250k buys is not releasing the actual numbers. These are private figures, not public. Why do you think we don’t have the actual numbers released ever?
The Showtime/HBO/Top Rank/Mayweather Promotions report was the total number that they pulled out of their ass.
Dave Meltzer reported what Kevin Iole stated on this boxing match. He stated verbatim what Iole reported. This is the same Kevin Iole who is wrong about 99% of his predictions. Meltzer doesn’t report boxing numbers independently regardless of what you claim. Show me an article where he says something along the lines of “according to my sources…..”. You also just admitted that Meltzer didn’t research the numbers on this fight, which debunks your earlier argument.
Your just pull shit out of your ass.
d says
Also another thing- if the cable companies were permitted to release the numbers, why on Earth would people like Richard Schaeffer frequently call out Bob Arum on his numbers and challenge him to a public audit of the figures? Wouldn’t he be able to just have Verizon release them? Also, why do fighters have audit rights for UFC fights? Why are the only people who have audit rights for events like this the fighters/promotion? Why hasn’t Verizon actually released the figures??
