UFC Fight Night 63: 389K viewers; prelims 304K viewers

April 7, 2015 by Jason Cruz 31 Comments

MMA Payout has learned from Nielsen sources that UFC Fight Night 63: Mendes vs. Lamas on Fox Sports 1 on Saturday drew 389,000 viewers for its main card which aired Saturday afternoon from 1:00pm ET to 4:00pm ET. The event peaked with 489,000 viewers from 1:30pm to 1:45 pm ET.

The Saturday night replay (8:00pm ET to 11:00pm ET) on FS1 drew another 350,000 additional viewers peaking with 493,000 viewers in the final quarter hour of the show.

A Sunday night replay from 4:00 to 7:00 pm ET on FS1 averaged 294,000 viewers and 144,000 viewers in the A18-49 demo.

UFC Fight Night 63 ratings

Payout Perspective:

The low ratings were likely considering it was on Easter weekend as well as during the day (prelims starting at 8am on the west coast) on Saturday. Although I am partial to the Saturday morning UFC shows, it probably does not bode well for the general viewing audience. In addition to the UFC, there was the debut of boxing on CBS starting at 12pm on the west coast. There was also the Final Four which also opposed the Saturday night replay.

When they run early events with nightly replays it is always hard to know how well the event did looking at broken ratings. But the UFC isn’t supposed to run events based on them being easy for fans to interpret ratings. If they are able to reach a new group of fans with a day time show then these are doing their job.

I myself saw the middle part of the event live and watched the end of it on the evening replay. Missed the prelims.

Very funny how desperate Sal is. He’s bragging about 1.1m on network tv. That was lower ratings than literally every single ufc on fox. Pure desperation for a welfare to work boxing troll.

PBC on CBS was on at 3pm. so you cant compare it to an event playing on primetime. Not only that but Stevenson isnt known outside of Boxing & NO ONE knew his mediocre opponent. Does anyone honestly beleieve Stevenson vs Chavez jr would not have cleared 2 million?

Just shows how stupid Sal and the boxing trolls are.

They are comparing NETWORK TV like CBS to a cable network like FS1.

I’m betting these idiots think the UFC was on Fox.

Atleast if you are gonna troll get your facts straight.

    Hahaha.

Sal, this is even embarrassing for you. Clearly desperation on your part. Comparing a CBS show to a FS1 show. With a bigger boxing name than the very low profile 145lb ufc fight.

    Very funny watching you squirm.

    HAHAHAHA!!

Chris you are an idiot! I know what I said and obliviously you cant handle the fact like all the other girls. Another UFC fan girl splitting meaningless hairs to try to defend a horrible showing by the ufc. here is a news flash to all the idiotic morons. The majority of fight fans don’t give a shit what network an event is on, they will watch it if they want to no matter what. So your stupid theory is a laughable joke from someone who probably has never even been to a fight or is a serious fan.

Fightbusiness, Chavez Jr would be the reason why that would go over 2m. Even if that fight was on primetime with Bika, it wouldn’t have surpassed 2m viewers. PBC is turning out to be a major disaster. Their debut was way below expectations. They are burning through millions on these cards. The purses are inflated and they are overpaying these fighters. My guess is Haymon is banking on a surge from Mayweather-Pac to gain interest, but that will only work shortly unless they can replace those 2 with stars who are just as big and everyone knows that will not happen- at least replacing Mayweather.

Haymon is going to burn through 100m through 1 year, with his best cards that aren’t eclipsing roughly 3.5m avg viewers. That is awful. Consider the high cost of promotion, they probably need to be getting an average of 5m viewers to cover these high costs and get a tv deal that would offset those numbers- and that would just be to break even.

This is a disaster, yet very amusing to watch all of the boxing trolls try to spin it. HAHAHAHA!!

In a year or two, when this idiot can’t borrow another dime from an investor, Sal will be back here to spin this bullshit that he’s been shoveling. HAHAHAHA!!! He’s shameless.

Sal you just said another horrible showing for UFC which has been on Fox for years.

Your dumb ass thought this was on Fox when it was on FS1.

You are a troll, you dont watch mma, you dont like mma, you just come here like a troll douchebag to hate on mma.

Which is fine, if you want to be a troll and do that dumb shit its your life but atleast get the facts right.

Boxing was on network tv from 3-5

UFC was on cable FS1 from 10am prelims, 1pm to 4pm main card.

PBC got around 1.37m viewers compared to UFCs 380k or whatever.
Funny to hear UFC fans say its not comparable, yet D makes out of context comparisons all the time.
Point is they went head to head and boxing thumbed them with an entirely foreign card.

Anyone who doesnt have fs1 is on welfare hahha. Face it boxing did triple the ufc numbers regardless of what channel its on. Once again some lame pussy excuse!! From a lame pussy. Oh and they lost a ton and only sold 5 k. Bahahahh. Wow the ufc is doing below 10 k now. So sad. Next. Haha refunds for Canada too.

Were you trying to say thump? Thumbing them may just have been one of your homosexually laced Freudian slips. HAHAHAHA!! 1m on a network is below toilet numbers. This card bombed. This idiot is losing millions on these shows with the prayer that Mayweather- Pac will help propel the numbers way up. You can’t sustain this business model without results in a year or two at most. These ratings are way below expectations. If things don’t radically change, this is going to be gone along with the 100m+ investor dollars that came with it.

Sal is so pathetic. He is beyond shameless and is clearly a boxing paid troll. How pathetic that he is saying all this shit about cable shows being the same as networks, yet whenever the ufc is fighting on FOX he would make the difference very clear. He also always talks about how much the ufc low profile cards are losing money when they payroll is something like 700k, but disregards it when something like this PBC show pays out purses in the millions and has a gate of a few hundred k and toilet shit ratings.

This idiot doesn’t even know what he is ranting about half the time.

Stevnson-Bika was on at noon on a Saturday with the NCAA Championship a few hours away. 1.37m is fine for that timeslot.

PBC on NBC should be higher. If the NBC show does those number then that will be a fail.

Im calling Garcia-Peterson to hit over 5m viewers tho.
Ive heard more people talking about this one then the other ones so I can see this peaking over 5m.
Really solid card thats gonna be on TV. These are the cards Haymon needs to put together to keep the ball moving.

HAHAHAHAHA!!! 1.37 again was the peak, not the avg. Those numbers are horrendous and everyone analyzing it knows it. The Gayest is very desperate.

When Garcia-Peterson doesn’t hit over 5m, and probably won’t go over 4m as an avg, I can’t wait for this gay mutant to pathetically attempt to spin those numbers as well.

The first card that was on NBC with Broner, Guerrero, etc. was solid, it was the debut and the numbers bombed respective of the amount of money that was being thrown into it. There is no evidence to suggest this event will be any different.

    You are such an idiot.

Hahaha. Even if it peaked at 5m which everyone knows it will not, it still doesn’t cover the ratings they are going to require to continue. Considering the purses they are putting out there, they need to be doing probably like a 6m avg. These are overpaid fighters. These are buy time deals.

Haha. Andy Lee is no where near as popular as McGregor is. Your delusions are growing, idiot.
