MMA Payout has learned that UFC 177 is one of the weakest markets for ticket in he UFC in some time. Even before the announcement that Renan Barao would not be in the main event, the average ticket price on the secondary market according to SeatGeek is just $136. It’s worth noting that the event is not sold out as of Friday afternoon.
The average ticket price is down 66% from the $410 average of UFC 175 in Las Vegas. It’s also the second lowest average ticket price and the lowest since August 2012 for UFC 150 (Edgar-Henderson II) . Due to the fact that tickets are still available at the box office, fewer than 400 tickets have been sold on the resale market. According to SeatGeek, it’s the least activity on the secondary market for a UFC fight in the United States.
SeatGeek points out tickets are still available to purchase on the primary market and are listed for as low as $65.40 in the upper level and as of noon today, the best available from Ticketmaster is $314.25. But, tickets on the resale market in the lower bowl are going for as low as $104 which is less than half of face value. So, if you want to sit close, the secondary market may be where to go but if you just want to get in, you might be able to walk up to the box office tomorrow night.
For those wondering, UFC 174’s resale tickets averaged $175.
Payout Perspective:
Since tickets are not selling, it’s evident that the secondary market would not have much action. We should point out that UFC 175 was the big July show that was centered around top stars (i.e. Weidman, Rousey) whereas this show has suffered setbacks with the latest being the loss of Barao. If UFC 176 had not been cancelled, we might have seen this show being axed. But, if you do watch the prelims or purchase the PPV, you may see a lot of open seats due to the lack of demand.
Logical says
The UFC is still living in fantasy land. Still going by the logic of “Championship belt on the line = PPV”. That may have been the case back when the Belts actually meant something, back when a stacked card meant having two champions defend their belts. Now? The belts are practically worthless — interim belts, handing belts to people that never earned them, title shot after title shot to cheating loudmouths, too many weightclasses etc. Their value is at its lowest.

This is such crap. A buisness being a sinking ship because “secondary market ” ticket sales are not good? Seriously , why would the UFC care? As long a shows sell out , or close to it they are making big coin. Don’t kid yourselves. As far as “Logical” being logical that’s a joke. Belts are worth nothing! handed out for no reason! The UFC owned WEC merged and brought over all new weight classes and gave those already Champions which were the very best in the lighterweight divisions in the world a UFC belt because they were proven champions in their classes. SO how does that mean nothing ? This talk of the old days being so great and better is garbage. I’ve been to MANY MANY UFC events starting at number 4 and to many Strikeforce, Bellator, WEC amd a tonne of regional events as well, over the years the quality of fighter and skill set has improved imensel. If you don’t realize that then you’re not a MMA fan but a “let’s see someone get the crap beat out of them “fan , I say this because fighters are more evenly matched today. Yes there are less KO’s and submissions because fighters have learned defense!! Also PPV numbers have gone down because there are way more overall cards now and a lot of them you don’t have to puchase. As the UFC said when they got the Fox deal , one day we won’t be in the PPV buisness. We’re seeing the transition. For you trolls out there the UFC isn’t going anywhere.

$63 av ticket price at the gate. to make an average ticket price to fit these numbers they had to of sold 5,185 tickets at $135 so they had to of comped at least half the 11,000 and 700k is a big fat lie because im sure they rounded that number way up!
So this show was a stinking wet pile of shit financially, ppv in the toilet as well!
