MMA Fighting’s Dave Meltzer reports that UFC 175 did between 500,000 – 545,000 PPV buys according to various cable sources. It’s the best showing on PPV since UFC 168.
UFC 175 featured Ronda Rousey defending her title against Alexis Davis and Chris Weidman defending his against Lyoto Machida. Interesting enough, UFC 168 featured Rousey and Weidman although in higher profile matchups: Miesha Tate and Anderson Silva.
The 500-545K PPV buy rate is the highest for 2014 which saw its lowest PPV buy rate in 10 years in UFC 174.
Payout Perspective:
Initial reports of this PPV hitting 500K buys appeared to hold up. It should be considered a positive and reflects the successful duo of Rousey and Weidman. The obvious difference from 168 is that the opponents were higher profile. It’s expected that we should get them again in December with Weidman-Belfort and the possibility of Rousey-Carano.

Not bad, but not great considering the numbers they were pulling in previous years. PPV has been slow in general and is not just MMA that has been affected, but the UFC has been hit the hardest and is due mostly to their own failings & poor strategy. We’ll see how the UFC fares in 2014, there are still two big cards left this year in UFC 178 and UFC 181. I doubt they’ll break any records but they just might even out all the crappy PPV’s the UFC has had this year.
Very good numbers seeing how Machida has never been a big draw. Pretty much as expected. Goes to show you Weidman is turning into a draw and his fight with Belfort will do much bigger numbers in December.
Good for this state of MMA. A lot of good fights coming should close out year with a Hight note.
Wow. This is mediocre. Weidman, Rousey and Machida on one card and it gets this? Pac vs Bradley had no undercard and got 750k. Boxing ppv numbers are bad because the fights stink (cotto vs old martinez) and/or there are no undercards. This had everything and all it did was 540k. Very mediocre and this is the best they got.
I say these are good numbers for the climate of the UFC and ppv. I see them pulling off maybe one more ppv close to this which is a tragic shame considering what they have done in the past. And considering a mediocre card by former standards is now considered the best they have.
Fightbusiness with more of his idiotic bullshit. Pac vs Bradley was a highly anticipated rematch that underperformed. No one buys boxing for their undercards, they primarily get them for the headliners, it isn’t like the UFC.
Nothing surprising about his response though. He is an idiotic boxing fanboy who is retarded.
Sal, you are an idiot. They have at least 2 more ppvs that will outdraw this ppv.
Cormier and Jones is going to do big numbers considering all the trash talk that they are building up for the fight. Also, Belfort-Weidman will do bigger numbers than this seeing how Belfort has always been a much bigger draw than Machida.
Oh please nothing special coming up a bunch of medi core crap with hype maybe one more 500k if that!
SALDAQUEEF!!!! Haha!!
Sal, you are so shameless it is unreal. Every time you make an idiotic statement like that, it turns out to be wrong and then you just come back to spew more of your bullshit.
There is no question they are going to do at least 2 more ppvs that draw over 500k buys and I wouldn’t be surprised if both of them went over 700k each.
Of the 550k I think Ronda is responsible for 400k and Weidman vs Machida the rest
Champ…that is very incorrect.
500k? Wow that sucks.
That will be your biggest ppv this year HAHAHAHA
Jones and DC isn’t happening until next year now.
What a decline for MMA.
A dying sport.
THE GAYEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
